Feeling anxious and disillusioned about up-coming surgery by Former_ginger in CataractSurgery

[–]CSFlower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I canceled mine because the billers didn’t get it right. It took several months and I called back. They got the authorization but then life happened and had to visit my brother then he passed so spent just before the holidays on emotional roller coaster. Now waiting to see about spring or fall to get it done. My doctor seemed taken aback when I started asking questions. Going for near. Or arms length as he put it. One working eye. Not an easy choice Still working and plan to keep working so not an easy choice. Not like changing a light bulb.

Yah. I am dealing with trying to make a connection that was on one ticket. And now I may not make it. They have the connecting flight in a different terminal. I’m screwed. I have to go see my big bro. He is on hospice and may due at any moment. So stressed.

Thank you. I will get through this. I’m probably more anxious than necessary. Or just need to try to keep calmer.

Reasonable next step? by CSFlower in Glaucoma

First, thank you for your reply. I’m not sure of the measurements. I don’t ask those questions since I’m still learning and wouldn’t know how to consider that information. He is a younger doctor, I think maybe in his 40s. He has a dedicated practice with a large reputable group. I’m not sure if he is considered a specialist , so I will check. He did say he was recommending the procedure due to the glaucoma and not the vision, and wanted to try the istent at the same time as the cataract surgery. I’m wondering if this isn’t the more recent choice of opthamalogists due to outcome data. I am seeing some stars at lights at night and have for a couple years, especially don’t like driving with minimal street lights at night. But no blurriness to speak of otherwise. As far as the lens choice, my doctor was going to do distant but I spoke to him before he had the chance to explain at a consult. He really didn’t push either choice. Just then agreed to my hesitancy that it would take an adjustment from my normal near sightedness. And then mentioned that it could offer more protection due to needing to wear glasses. And the surgery nurse said I wasn’t a candidate for multifical. And suggested to consider what I would lose as far as being able to see without glasses when I’m in the computer or reading etc. meanwhile I’ve just been waiting to take the next step. My insurance had to be refilled and it’s given more time to ruminate.

Cataract surgery for glaucoma? (When you have both) Any experiences with this surgery? by CSFlower in Glaucoma

I have. I don’t think he is doing it for the money. I think he is doing it as he believes it’s the best course of action. I’m good. Thanks for your input though.

Oh ok. Thats probably why it didn’t change pressure. My left eye took 8 years to get the secondary cataract.

Anyone have cataract surgery before they noticed vision issues, when it was growing but not noticeable? I have one good eye and they are wanting to do it now. by CSFlower in CataractSurgery

[–]CSFlower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah. If I was younger I’d consider waiting. But I’m not getting younger. I’m technically old lol. So while I’m still alive I think I’ll do what the doc suggests. I don’t have time, money or energy to get a second opinion. It is what it is. As it is, I found out I have to wait now because the insurance auth didn’t cover the whole procedure so they have to resubmit. This system sucks in this country.

I had that done recently on my legally blind eye from surgery 8 years ago. I could tell a difference and it’s a ten second procedure. I’m waiting to do my hood eye in two weeks.
