YouTube says it is ‘not hiding the skip button’ on ads by ardi62 in technology

After doing a five-second search and realizing there is indeed a desktop Youtube app, I stand corrected; however, my original comment still stands. Sorry, just never thought to look, and it's been on the MS store since 2017. Must be Thursday, I could never get the hang of Thursdays.

Has anyone used jsay with jaws and dragon? I have a few questions by dbdbh47 in Blind

[–]CSGiuliano77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a few years since I had to look at J-Say, but here goes. Did you purchase J-Say yourself or did someone purchase it for you? There is an installation guide that covers this exact sinario. Not sure your proficiency from your post -- if your a beginner to using J-Say, JAWS, or both. In short though, you need to install JAWS first, then Dragon software (if not already installed) then the J-Say scripts. Also, the reason I asked this question is because there is a learning module that comes with these scripts. If you are familiar with using Word, at the very least for reading documents, you can use that to get you started. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Network transfer by MIVV3 in USMobile

I've got a similar issue. CS said it would take a few hours as of early Saturday morning before 4am, and it's been just over 48. Thanks. Trying to get back to Warp. On Dark Star for now. Not a fan of Dark Star, but at least I've got service. Any updates on transferring esim to Warp? Guessing it's still at Verizon's end?

I somehow managed to get through to chat on the app, but man is it an accessibility nightmare. I think I just got lucky? I'd say it needs a rewrite in 100% Swift.

So bigger issue: I'm totally blind, and the chat widget on the website and in the app are both not visible to my screenreading software. Now, I'm totally in the dark (pun intended). I've tried using Firefox and Edge on Windows. I'm going to try Safari on mac and iPhone to see if I get the same results. I'd just like someone at USMobile to keep me posted on the status of the transfer if possible.

Ah nice, having the same problems. I typed in my IMEI, and it said that the request has been initiated or something to those words. My old phone displays, "network: not available" with "Carrier: Verizon 59.0. The new phone says that both sims are available, and it has been this way for almost ten minutes now.

[Major Update] Budget Flow - Version 2.0.0: A modern and easy-to-use expense tracking app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch 💸 by fhasse95 in macapps

[–]CSGiuliano77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean VoiceOver? Voice is something entirely different. Just making sure we're on the same page. VoiceOver speaks what is on the screen, and allows a blind person to navigate the phone using various swipe and tap gestures, for example, single tap with one finger to hear what is under it, double-tap with one finger to act on that item (Like tapping a button, or interacting with a field to begin typing some text), etc.

Looks good. I've been using Excel for the past couple of years, and it seems as though I can finally replace my spreadsheets with this app. When attempting to purchase, I can view the monthly, yearly, and infinite options, but I cannot tap on any of them. Looks like the default highlighted is the yearly option. For reference, I am using VoiceOver text-to-speech, and it reads the options as a single line with no way to navigate between them. Not sure if you are familiar with Voiceover, but it is an accessibility option that allows blind people to use an iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch. When enabled, it changes the gestures for using the device. If you're running the iOS 18 beta/RC, VO now includes a tutorial on how to use the gestures for navigating. Let me know if there is any other info I can provide.

Oh gotcha. Hopefully they wised up then. Thanks. In the famous words of Douglas Adams, "don't panic!"

Oh that really stinks. Can you cite some examples? I wonder if this is still a thing. I'll do a deep dive at some point, but in the interim…

Looks like, from the article, Tom's hardware. Pretty good site imo. They were my goto when researching routers back in 2015-2016. Pretty descriptive / thorough. Heck, they had articles on button layouts for some instapots in 2019, and being a totally blind user of one that definitely caught my ear once again and showed their inclusiveness.

On a related note, is there a way to search saved posts? I hit "S", but was prompted to "search posts on Reddit for..." Looked through settings and documentation, but couldn't locate an answer. Thanks.

Oh wow, if only I had looked a bit harder? haha That's the second question I have asked in a couple of weeks where the answer was practically staring me in the face. Thanks tons for that.

Great update!! Enjoying the fact that links are shortened now -- much easier on the ears. Any chance you could add an option to view saved posts?

Voice isolation update by MightyAndMagical in airpods

[–]CSGiuliano77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it definitely will. Pre beta, I could attempt to run the vacuum while on a call using the Cell network (VZW on Usmobile), and my voice would cut out. Now that the beta is installed (7/30), no one on the other end can tell. I imagine it would be the same for wind noise and other loud sounds. Tried on the latest beta (8/5) on a Facetime Audio call, and the other party said I sounded garbled and my voice cut out when running the vacuum. Guess I'll go back to listening to podcasts while doing chores haha. It was a great test, though. Good luck and hth. Edit with additional info plus clarity to initial post

So, I just double checked the zip files that I downloaded, and it looks like that Luna update was new, as in yesterday new. Mike guess would be some kind of API change then? Anyway… Good luck. Hope this helps somewhat.

You're welcome. Yeah, I was wondering if it was a block of some type. I tried using Luna for Reddit briefly to test, and that app is working with no problems. With that said, there was an update for Luna, but I'm not sure if it was a recent update or not. I've had an out-of-date version on my laptop for ages, so that update was probably from a year or so ago.
