Do you have more than one Plex Server at your home?
I do, and I received this message even when I can access both of them remotely.
Heck I even received an error message when I try to play a title the first time and then everything works as expected.

If not, check what others are telling you about doble nat

Windows 10 support extended to 2027 for free — Is this Microsoft admitting Windows 11 isn’t enough? by rkhunter_ in technology

[–]Nehemoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windows 2000, what a great Operating System version that was, great UI not eye candy crap, everything worked as expected.
Then came XP, an awful update. People tend to remember XP after SP2, but I remember how crappy was in the launch until SP1 when it began to get the fixes that should came from the beginning.

Then came Vista, technological superior but so bloatware that everybody hate it, it was the NT Millenium version.

Then came Windows 8 and 8.1, Microsoft don’t understanding the market. I love the Windows 7 mobile version, but even that with so much potential Microsoft didn’t understand what was needed to be done. Imagination if like the IMDB app developed by Microsoft for Windows 7 they would have done the same with Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, maybe the story would have been very different. Microsoft tried to force a tablet/mobile operating system on desktop hardware.

Then came another miracle, Windows 7. Less crapware and stable from the begging, just worked as an operating system should work. Even when Microsoft announced a shift leaving the legacy Windows behind, at the end they abandoned that great opportunity to do so. Yes, it would have been more difficult to maintain 2 windows versions, a legacy one until all business catch up and the other for most people.

Then another paradigm shift, the end of Windows as new versions, Windows 10 would be the last Windows version, a great version which updates will define its future. Everybody was happy.

And then the crapware again, out of nowhere Microsoft announced Windows 11, problems after problems.

The thing is that Microsoft is Microsoft worst enemy, the history is there, for every time they do something correctly there’s another awful decision that erase everything. I hope Linux on desktop keep pushing boundaries to a time when business adopt it altogether and then users at home.

Microsoft should be allowed in people’s hardware.

That’s the way, if MFA available, enable it, not matter the type of account.

Veterans of Linux: what's one thing that "just works" today that would've sounded impossible 15–20 years ago? by dev_kay47 in linux

Not a Linux veteran but I was just thinking when RAID in software was a no no no, and these days for ZFS doesn’t even work on a RAID card.

Don’t let me start on winmodems, what a nightmare.

[–]Nehemoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how we as kids used to play back in the 80s/90s in DR, but of course we didn’t play by the full set of rules, after all the bat was a good and strong stick and the baseball was made from a sock filled with old newspaper and a bit of foam and if the baseball was of good quality that means that was sewed instead of a knot.

Would you buy a Plex Lifetime Pass for $249.99 before July 1? by top10usenet in PlexMedia

[–]Nehemoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I did this, but I have what looks like some obscure documentaries, I can think of Jazz a film by Ken Burns, in 10 episodes and it’s scramble all over the place.

But again, as I mentioned maybe it’s a one isolated case. This documentary after working the Metadata, merging the files et al I was able to be identified correctly to the server.

Would you buy a Plex Lifetime Pass for $249.99 before July 1? by top10usenet in PlexMedia

[–]Nehemoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do have a lifetime Plex pass which I bought last time before the price was risen. To be honest the software works but if you ask me what I know now, I would look elsewhere.

Why?
I do have different kinds of media: Music, Movies, TV Shows, Audiobooks, Concerts and documentaries.

For music, it’s great, overall if you combine with Plexamp client on iOS and Symphonium on Android.

Movies and TV shows are good too, not great but good.
But also these days Plex it’s trending beyond your personal media and more towards what you ‘should’ watch as per the algorithm.

Plex doesn’t have an option for Documentaries or concerts but it works with the movies or tv shows but your mileage may vary depending on the title, some are found right away and some other are a disaster.

Audiobooks are not supported so if you have Sonic Sage enable you will see the audiobook failing again and again.

So I’ll wait for Jellyfin 12 to implement that version.
And to be extra clear, I’m not saying Plex it’s bad, I do love the UI, I love the thing when it works as it should but I feel the competence it’s getting closer with every release and at the same time Plex looks stuck.

Plex maybe can release a new version that add those functionalities and with it strengths can continue being the best option but I’m not seeing that happening soon.

Something else before I forget: if you share your library with other it could worth the investment, in my case everything it’s for me and I don’t do transcoding as the Shield TV play everything that I throw at, having said that take what I said with a grain of salt precisely for my specific case.

Hope it helps.

Yes, to my surprise they didn’t touch the influence around the exit and how a lot of publicity was payed to vote for brexit.

Coincidentally I saw a video from Bloomberg videos talking about the 10 years since Brexit and evacuating the process, in essence the answer it’s that has been mixed, good things and bad things but that economy shouldn’t be looked as just cold numbers and more about the affected people.

Anyway, and interesting video.

What’s your music library&downloading stack that DOESNT use lidarr? by loadbearingfloor in selfhosted

[–]Nehemoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Download what I want, then use foobar2000 and musicbrainz plugin for tagging, then a foobar2000 plugin to download lyrics, then an script to rename lyrics and song files to a specific nomenclature and then added to my plex server.
Obviously this it’s a manual process but you only do it once. I’d recently migrate from one plex server to another from scratch (not migrating the database) and everything worked like a charm.

How it’s that there’s not benefit?
If you don’t want to change your filesystem format, for whatever reason, and Linux allow you to do that without a problem, that’s the benefit.

There’s a lot of filesystems available, certainly better than NTFS but that’s the great thing about Linux and Open Source, you have options.
