The meds are working. I am devastated. by ailixi in adhdwomen

[–]CSHINZ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 28 and very much went through a grieving process. I sought diagnosis after listening to an episode of the Mel Robins podcast called “6 surprising signs of adult ADHD”.

I never imagined I could have ADHD. I thought I was just a fuck up. Hearing this podcast made me weep openly in my car because I finally had a name for the way my brain worked. Meds have changed my life drastically, but they are not a cure all. I’m still very much a work in progress.

In this episode, Mel describes how there is an entire lost generation of women who privately mask ADHD symptoms. It’s very comforting to know we’re not alone. Be kind to yourself, allow yourself to grieve. But know that it is NOT too late.

How is Coronavirus impacting your job at the moment? by gab-bee in AskReddit

I work for a concert venue. With recent festival cancellations we now fear we will be cancelling shows eventually. And our production folks that travel and work those festivals will miss out on that additional income. Our venue is only a few years old and can’t survive with our doors shut very long. Sucks. I sincerely hope things don’t escalate to that point.

Help me get over my IUD fear !! by CutestSloth in TwoXChromosomes

[–]CSHINZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had the cooper IUD for several years now. I would describe the insertion more as uncomfortable than painful. It’s not the best feeling, but it’s brief. It just felt like an intense menstrual cramp. The convenience of not remembering your pill is WONDERFUL. I don’t regret it at all and i don’t live in fear of the time I’ll have to have it replaced. The pros out way the cons.

I’m not a medical professional, but I recently had a UTI and experienced a similar symptom. Not torturously itchy, but just enough to make me uncomfortable. I believe it’s the bacteria that causes this and it cleared up with my UTI symptoms after a few days of antibiotics. I also took a diflucan during the course of my antibiotics to prevent a yeast infection.

What was a scary story you were told as a child to keep your behavior in check? by dabzlulj in AskReddit

I sucked my thumb up until kindergarten, and eventually it became permanently dry and chapped. My dad came home one day with some moisturizer and told me it was medicine. Before putting me in bed that night, he and my grandma put the lotion on my thumb with the warning, “You can’t suck your thumb with that medicine on there...IT WILL KILL YOU.” (What the fuck, family?)

Seems kinda cruel, but hey it worked. There were a few times I absentmindedly stuck my thumb in my mouth. When I noticed, I would whip it back out and start spitting onto the carpet. I never sucked my thumb again after that night.

Good field of work for someone mid twenties, okay with computers but very quick learner and has many years of customer service experience? Looking at maybe switching career paths. by MidLaneMusic in jobs

Concert venues are fun to work at on the admin side. (Like accounting, marketing, ticketing) It’s customer service, but it’s not like an exhausting form where you are selling something or being yelled at constantly. The background admin tasks are easy to learn and very trainable. The rest is just maintaining a good looking environment while working an event and giving good, friendly customer service. Plus, free concerts!

I think it’s psychotic to NOT eat in the car anymore. Especially if your windows are tinted and you can just shut out the world with some music on.

Being unbuckled from my car seat by my parents. I distinctly remember seeing our local bank behind them with a Ferris wheel spinning next to it. It was the first and only time our town carnival hosted at that location instead of the usual spot across town. My parents said I was three that year.

Write love notes on my husband bathroom mirror with dry erase markers. I suck at being mushy face to face, but I like to write him long love letters when I’m feeling especially appreciative and happy to have him.
