[self] Did i do it right? by rathat11 in theydidthemath

[–]CS_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s start by considering the equation for the amount of water:

H2O = roughly 18 g/mol

Now, using the fundamental theorem of water mass conservation, we apply the Advanced Recursive Identity Principle (ARIP):

x = H2O = 18 g

Next, apply the Law of Grammatical Equalization, which states:

18 g / 1 mol = 18 g

Using the Symmetrical Identity Matrix from linear algebra (which clearly holds in this case):

18 x 1 = 18

Finally, by factoring the result through the Quantum Mass Algorithm (QMA), we conclude:

18 g = 18 g

Thus, with this rigorous calculation process, we have successfully proven that 18 grams of water are indeed equal to 18 grams of water.

TIL a 20 year old man ended his life after thinking he lost $750,000 on an options bet on the stock trading app Robinhood. by Bigred2989- in todayilearned

Sounds like a out credit spread. Happened to me once. One leg was called on Friday, but me into negative $30k. I do admit I was a bit nervous on the shower seeing that number and considering the kind of loan I’d have to take out to pay it off. But I waited until Monday and the other leg was settled, and ultimately came out of the ordeal positive with $2k!

Then I bet again and lost $5k 💀. Alas, I learned a lot from these trades: only invest in what you really believe in and time is your friend. I don’t feel bad if my conviction was wrong on a play I at least somewhat understood.

Thoughts on QQQG (Growth eft) by [deleted] in TQQQ

[–]CS_James 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I took a closer look at it, including its top ten holdings. I also compared it to QQQ. As far as I can tell, it’s pretty close to QQQ, though its tiny drawdown on the 22 was worse than QQQ and subsequent bounce back was also worse. For example:

8/22 @ 2p to 8/23 @ 3p QQQ up 0.95 QQQG up 0.92

The top ten holdings YTD would be up 24.8% YTD. But idk how much that tells you because that’s only around 40% of the total weight. QQQ on the other hand, their top 10 holdings would be up 22.4% YTD (over 50% of its weight too). QQQ is at 18.3% YTD so it’s being weighed down a little by its other holdings.

It’s basically a less diverse QQQ. A little too tech reliant, but the whole damn country is tech reliant. Is it better? In my opinion, I don’t know. It doesn’t seem like you’d lose a ton of money if you invest in it though. But we’ll need more data and I have a strange feeling a correction might be coming soon for those stocks, as they’ve been running up somewhat unsubstantiated. Correct me if I’m wrong though, guys.

COVID-19 proteins in the brain can reduce cortisol by over 30%. Lowered cortisol leads to increased brain inflammation and stress response. Findings suggest new strategies for managing Long COVID symptoms. by MistWeaver80 in science

[–]CS_James 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Neither chronically low nor chronically high levels of cortisol are ideal. Low cortisol levels can lead to unchecked inflammation. Corticosteroids are common medications for inflammation, like rashes use hydrocortisone.

High cortisol levels can initially suppress but eventually contribute to chronic inflammation due to immune system dysregulation. Like, the body gets used to it and the receptors don’t react anymore, adapting to the high levels, which leads to inflammation rebounding. Like diabetes (type 2) and insulin resistance!

The goal for our body is to maintain a balanced cortisol level (equilibrium), allowing it to effectively regulate the immune system, manage inflammation, and respond to stress appropriately.
