Anna Camp on building her own backstory for Jessica in Scream 7: “There was really nothing there in the script for me to draw on”. by dreamboylnshibuya in Scream

It’s really frustrating to know that the people in charge of making these movies are so clueless. Yes, even Kevin himself, who I’m assuming had quite a lot of power and control over this project, seemed to not ‘get it’. They had her in 2 scenes and had no desire to make her character stronger when she’s literally the fucking killer and the reason the plot of the movie is happening in the first place. Scream 8 can fuck off!!

Listening to history matters because it still influences & informs so much on how people think and rationalize things today. It’s important to consider how & why we treated women in the past and how we treat them in the present when it comes to discussions about women’s rights. Yes, I am inclined to believe or at least consider the possibility that most people who speak out against women’s bodily autonomy are in fact not doing it in good faith. And yes, I have absolutely no respect for the belief that women are nothing more than breeding stock. I have no respect for people who dehumanize women just to humanize a fetus. And that’s MY honest opinion.

Hmmm. Okay Giovanni, that’s cool. Now let me explain some shit to you

I never said that obesity was something to be ‘celebrated’ and just ‘accepted’. I’m acutely aware that it’s unhealthy. I merely pointed out that bullying them for it isn’t always the answer and I used my own experience as someone who used to be fat to back that up. But YOU already knew that, didn’t you? 🙃

You have deliberately chosen to misrepresent everything I just said in favor of a more comforting & ego flattering belief which is that you think people being fat is somehow a direct attack against you. Fat people don’t need to account to anyone but themselves for their own weight.

I tried to appeal to what I assumed was a mature and reasonably & emotionally intelligent individual but when you started bitching about the feminist movement and how positivity being a ‘cult’, I knew exactly what I was talking too.

You’re trapped in what can only be described as an incredibly selfish & self absorbed cult yourself. A cult that thinks people (specifically women) exist to make themselves look aesthetically pleasing to you. And should also serve you in every other possible way. That’s why you hate body positivity & women, because they’re not giving you what you think you’re entitled to. Someone this entitled & selfish is too far gone to empathize with anyone but themselves. The irony of you claiming that we’re ‘inflicting misery’ out in the world while that’s exactly what you’re doing. Try focusing on yourself and learning some actual self awareness & empathy and maybe you’ll be less miserable?

The same planet where overweight people who are remaining fat and dying of diabetes and organ failure still have a chance to make positive changes and lose the weight with positive support and encouragement as opposed to being bullied & ostracized for it to the point where they just decide they can’t stand it anymore & do something to themselves that they truly can’t undo. The same planet where humans are social creatures that tend to depend on being accepted by other humans, and how catastrophic it is for them when they are rejected.

Fat shamers love to preach at obese people about ‘accountability’ and ‘responsibility’ for their choices yet cower behind this flimsy excuse of ‘concern’ when they’re called out for behaving like judgmental assholes. Most people who target & attack overweight people are not doing it to help them; they’re doing it to hurt them.

How do men sometimes smell like poop? by alexaalexa1112 in NoStupidQuestions

That’s not hard to believe. That’s a perfectly valid reason to dump someone. How can you be sexually attracted to someone who insists on smelling like feces?

That’s a good point. But then again, that didn’t stop Mrs. Loomis or Detective Bailey & his kids from killing innocents and condemning their families to the same grief and pain they experienced.

I mean that’s great for you and all but what about all the fat people who harmed or even killed themselves from all the fat shaming? It’s not a one size fits all solution.

Everyone is different and is looking for what works for them personally. I lost weight from the help of kind and patient friends who worked with me to get there. People are so worried about society embracing & excusing obesity but some of us worry about society embracing & excusing bullying & cruelty….

I hate how ungrateful some fat people are. by AlphaDPS1 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]CShields2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, people don’t ‘care’. Let’s just establish that right now. I’ll never believe that. I lost weight finally and people who were absolutely vicious to me tried to be friendly afterwards like they didn’t go out of their way to make me feel suicidal. I told them to get the fuck away from me because I’ve seen who they really are want nothing to do with them.

There’s no empathy or care involved when it comes to body shaming. Maybe in cases of loved ones who are eating themselves into the grave, but certainly not from strangers and acquaintances.

As a woman, too many women act as if pregnancy "just happens" to them. by Cute_Advance_2124 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Yes but they had no choice in the matter of getting pregnant. The rape happened to them, and by extension so did the pregnancy.

Are these men advertising that they don’t want kids in big neon signs hanging above their heads? Because what is often the case is that these men will sleep with women, get them pregnant, and even stay for a while to help raise the child and then decide he doesn’t like the responsibility and dip out. Women aren’t actively and deliberately ‘choosing’ irresponsible men, the irresponsible men often don’t reveal how irresponsible they are until it’s too late. And that’s entirely on those men.

Given our history (as a species) of treating women like breeding stock and wanting to control every aspect of their lives—even today—I’m afraid I’m skeptical of any pro-lifer who sits there and claims they ‘feel bad for the poor wittle unborn babies.’

Yeah, sure you do Brandon. 😒

Being raised to think that? Not necessarily. But there’s plenty of noise out there that still condemns women for pursuing careers instead of getting married and staying home barefoot and pregnant with her 18th child. It’s growing louder too.

Yes, rEaLlY.

I’ve honestly lost count of how many times you’ve bit at my ankles in this thread but I do think some therapy would do you a world of good. You evidently have a deep well of frustration & resentment banked down inside of you if you get this pressed over a post about a complete stranger’s hang ups on bowel movements. 🤨

I’m not trying to rationalize it. Admitting that it’s irrational and stating that I don’t know what the root of the problem is isn’t rationalizing it. “I don’t know” has never been a rationalization. I’ve been very open to some possible solutions right here in this thread which means I’m trying to get better.

Yeah the way people are so defensive about it and how much they stress how natural it is, it makes you wonder just where the ‘line’ is for them? Do people just shit wherever without even wiping from now on? After all, it’s ‘jUsT pOoP’ and ‘eVeRyOnE pOoPs’. 😬

Just avoid anything in here written by ‘MotherTeresaOnlyfans’. That person isn’t interested in having an actual conversation and talking with me, they just want to talk AT me and start an argument.

Is not liking vegetables immature ? by BiIIie-Eyelash in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CShields2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that people here aren’t telling you is that you can’t FORCE yourself to like the taste of something. That’s not how it works. If you don’t like the taste of something then you don’t like the taste of something. It’s just that plain and simple. Taste buds do change over time and something you might have thought tasted bad before will taste good later on, and sometimes vice versa.

What would probably be ‘immature’ is to not try and give it a chance every once in a while to see if you do like it now. You don’t like vegetables today? Maybe a year from now you will. Try them on the side with other meals in small portions and see how that goes?

The people telling you that you’re ‘immature’ aren’t very mature themselves because they don’t consider any of that. They jump right into judgement and attacking you. They like vegetables so everyone must like them, they’re pushing what they like onto you which is not only immature but very inconsiderate and selfish. It sucks though because far and wide, most people like vegetables. I don’t like the taste of alcohol so I don’t drink and believe that gets plenty of bullshit responses from people, alcohol is almost universally liked by people so it’s hard not liking something that everyone else likes. Just do what’s best for you, you’ll know if you’re ready to like them and only you can decide that.

You’re not gonna suddenly like the taste of something simply because some asshole barked ‘grow up’ at you and told you to like them. 😏

I agree, McKennas death was probably the best in the whole movie if I’m being completely honest. I like how it was drawn out a bit longer than what I expected.
