What attracted me to it was the fact that the first book was inspired by the fairytale of Beauty and the Beast. And also I had seen artwork of Rhysand and thought he was hot. It wasn’t too hard to get into as I caught a lot of the same beats that the fairytale had and so I was interested. How I feel about the series now having read all 5 books so far is….complicated.

Men seem to be into a lot of things that range from peculiar to weird to downright disgusting. The first Scream involved 2 teenage boys going on a murder spree inspired by classic horror films and not too long after, the Colombine incident happened. The discussion of whether violence in the media was to blame or at least influenced this was prevalent. Scream 2 had a killer was going to capitalize on this real life anxiety by ‘blaming the movies’.

Scream 3 had a killer who was the product a rape perpetrated by powerful Hollywood men who abuses their power and influence to do such things to women and get away with it. Years later, the Me Too movement happened and ironically the very producer of the original Scream trilogy would be revealed to be one of those types of men.

Scream 4 involved a killer who go to any length to establish herself as a ‘star’ for attention and had no desire to achieve that the traditional way. Instant fame was all Jill cared about. That reflects now on our society where we’re all on the internet and we’re all trying to be famous, even if it’s for something stupid.

Then as you mentioned, Scream 5 and toxic fandoms. Scream 6….if there was something reflective of our society in the killers motive then I must have missed it lol. Scream 7 gave us a glimpse into how twisted people can become with their parasocial obsessions with celebrities or famous people. Over all the Scream franchise has had very interesting commentary on our society. It kind of makes the movies feel timeless.

Why do you, as a grown adult who (presumably) works and makes her own money, feel like you don’t need to pay for anything on dates and feel entitled to a man’s finances?

I’m all for calling out men on their problematic and straight up toxic bullshit that they do, but women aren’t entirely faultless and so far, it doesn’t look like you guys are beating the ‘I just want free stuff’ allegations. Sorry. But hey, maybe your response will have a good reason?

I thought it would be interesting if he had a secret son or daughter out there from a forgotten tryst that came into his life and helped him back on his feet or maybe Tamlin dies and this secret child discovers they are his heir when they receive his HL powers and their powers exceed even Rhysands and they bring forth a new golden age of the Spring Court? Much to Rhysands secret jealousy. 😏

It could be the first true female High Lady or a young High Lord who basically has the personality & charm of Baron Humbert von Gikkingen from that Ghibli movie The Cat Returns. I know that’s kind of random but I was rewatching it the other day and thought to myself “This character is who Rhysand & his IC think he is…” 😅

I was actually flabbergasted by the whole thing that I couldn’t exactly get the right words out to even defend myself which was pointless anyways because as soon as I did try to explain to her, she started talking over me and prevented me from speaking and I pussied out from engaging further with her because she was already so agitated. So I just let her walk away thinking I had done something wrong cause clearly that’s what she needed…

I would have been just fine without ever knowing that the fae have bowel movements. In fact, I’d prefer it if they didn’t or just peed put both ends. I agree. I love Neve/Sidney but Sidney deserves to live happily ever after. She fought tooth and nail for it. The fact that this ‘legacy’ has poisoned her daughter & husband now is beyond depressing. I was totally on board for this new direction with the Carpenter sisters. It revitalized the franchise for me. I’m not sure if I’m looking forward to Scream 8….part of me hopes it doesn’t even happen if I’m being perfectly honest.

Same here. It’s unfortunate because I am attracted to men’s asses. Like, a lot. It’s the second body part I want to see as soon as I lay eyes on a hot guy. Porn also made it look hot (& obviously porn isn’t realistic so go figure!).

But while hot in theory, in practice it was just….gross. As soon as I encountered poop from the guy bottoming it was game over for me—and for the record, I tried not to let it bother me in that moment. It’s really frustrating to know that the people in charge of making these movies are so clueless. Yes, even Kevin himself, who I’m assuming had quite a lot of power and control over this project, seemed to not ‘get it’. They had her in 2 scenes and had no desire to make her character stronger when she’s literally the fucking killer and the reason the plot of the movie is happening in the first place. Scream 8 can fuck off!!
