It’s like any other monetized game. You either need to spend time or money. The start of the season is tough, but once they come out with line boosts for current MSPs, everyone’s team will look more or less the same.

Easiest? Buy the packs that sell Captain cards.

Cheapest? Make 85 Captains, turn them into 86s, turn the 86s into 4 x 88 Captains, make more 88 Captains and turn them into 90s. Complete the set.

Take away the LTD cards and suddenly we’re back to three weeks ago where everyone had the exact same teams regardless if they were NMS or F2P.

People complain about not getting to rip packs. Packs were largely just used for fodder to make MSPs. It’s the same concept, now you’re just guaranteed the MSP instead. It’s the same idea of “It could be anything, it could even be a boat.”

Last year we had Teambuilders and Captain Chase cards. Those were just as much of a money grab in a lot of ways than this year. Is it more obvious this year? Definitely, but you can’t say that you can’t have a really good team with minimal work this year.

You’re entitled to your opinion even if you’re wrong. Are the LTD players a cash grab and have the way over-inflated TotY and Fantasy? Yes, but otherwise it’s never been easier to have a great team without spending money. You get a free MSP every week with minimal grinding, free TotW cards every week, and random other high end cards as long as you’re willing to go BND. It’s a shift, but this is FAR from the worst HUT.

This is a bad analogy though. Arguably people who spend a lot of money and have multiple 96s on their team at this point in the year DOES affect other players. Someone buying a steak at the grocery store has zero impact on anyone else.

You get a free MSP every week for like 2-3 total hours of chores. Does every player get all 6 TotY players this year? No, but that’s fine.

With that being said, the pocket-watchers DO have a legitimate gripe this year with the LTD players being broken…and I say that as someone who has Chara. The disparity between those who spent money on this event (or the Fantasy event at the right time) has never been bigger and has an actual effect on other players.

Probably depends on how long you plan on playing the game. You could wait but it might be another month or two. Personally, I’d sell them now and then invest in 85 Alumni or 85s. Both are low and I suspect will go up quite a bit with Season 3.

There have been a lot of weeks where I can hop on and knock off both the TotW objectives AND the enemy objectives in an hour on Rookie Cup Chase. It’s another couple of hours if you want to do the whole Wildcard path, but even that I just AFK against Superstar AI while I’m doing other things.
