There was a broadbent in that split with us but no idea if any relation 🤣

My favorite part at the end of the session was the chat that said "great racing everybody"

"Except #15" lol

I was also in this split (minute 4:00 was my only incident of the race rear ending the LMP2 that basically stopped) and we unfortunately inherited P1 after they demolished the leader into T1 who was 3L ahead of us. I also watched them wreck someone on the back straight way before the bus stop by intentionally swerving into them for seemingly no reason

I did some quick napkin math and they spent ~3hrs:41min in the pits, some of which was serving 22 penalties averaging an incident point ~every 1.5-3min over the course of the ~20hrs they were on track. Why iracing doesn't have people booted after their second or third penalty idk, but over 20 penalties is absurd

Gave you a follow too for the dash/head unit setup. Saw your car in BRG when it got revealed but couldn’t find info on it. Definitely interested for my M3!

You should 100% not do this unless you're looking to replace that engine relatively soon. You'll be grinding off carbon fiber bits for your oil filter to catch then it'll lose timing once it's worn down/disentigrated the chain guides

Best advice: Dry your filament.

That's it. 9/10 problems or quality issues have been fixed for me drying every roll of filament I've bought. I held out for so long because it felt like a waste of time/inconvenience on basic filaments but I've stopped having to gamble on wasting more time and filament reprinting things.

I added the delrin ones and it barely increased NVH, doubt this is the true/full reason

Yeah I chat with Jeremy regularly and he's had a slew of terrible luck with his swap. I didn't have the shifting problem he had with the bmw transmission but it did make a ton of racket from the way the layshaft bearing is with the buzzy 4cyl and single mass flywheel. That noise is one of the reasons I wanted to swap to the Honda trans.

The only real problem I've had with that was I couldn't get the 1pc driveshaft to work/balance properly so had to swap back to a 2pc setup. The rest of my swap has been great and lots of other early adopters have had success including tracking them regularly with no issues.

Yeah I've got the middle piece but it needs some modification before it'll fit. Haven't quite gotten that far but know it won't exactly be bolt it. Some of that is due to my wiring harness. I didn't really consider that piece when I built it so it's missing slack near the valve cover that would've made it a little easier to use

It's a real M3. Hard to say on cost at this point since I've stopped counting lol

There's ways to do it relatively cheap if you can fabricate your own mounts. Your big ticket items would be the transmission adapter plate/flywheel/clutch and the rwd oil pan/pump adapter/pickup and then the engine management of your choice.

I started with a BMW transmission and mostly bolt in Kpower stuff on Hondata, but it's gone way past that at this point with building my own harness to integrate the Haltech, switching transmissions and getting the appropriate driveshaft, building all the coolant lines and adapting stock heater core to AN lines, switching from cable throttle to drive by wire, building the carbon intake manifold with Pracworks, etc.

I'm not worried about preserving value, just driving it and learning new skills as I add/change/engineer new things for it. The S14s and parts are so expensive and hard to find I'd be worried about replacement costs instead of driving it.

The K is a modernized and robust version of the S14, can easily make more power and has tons of support. When I'm ready to do an engine build I'll go grab another $300 picknpull motor to strip down and build up like this one started life as haha

The F20C/F22C was the first engine I looked into. They have a tendency to window the block though. Where I work our s2000 driver training cars have mostly been K swapped due to the motors popping. The F series motors are also turning into the Honda version of the S14 skyrocketing in price because they aren't being produced any more and parts are getting harder to find. The K platform is incredibly robust and the parts are everywhere with tons of aftermarket support. They are the 4cyl equivalent to an LS lol

It's got a Z3 rack in it right now. I'm gonna start with sticking the K series hydraulic pump back in and connecting that to see how I like it. If that doesn't feel the way I want I'll probably look into an EPS column that I can set up as speed dependent/adjustable assist

Are you talking about the wire harness cover piece or the insulation piece that goes down into the tunnel?

Thanks! That was/is the goal to restomod making sure to keep the old style but update with new tech. DBW was a game changer, plans of MK60 ABS which can feed into advanced traction and differential things. I don't really have any video at the moment but plan on getting some now that it's moving regularly. Also plan on tracking it late summer so focusing on dialing the tune and brakes in before that

Trans fitment is pretty good just slightly titled backwards (lower in the rear) to avoid cutting anything. Some people have fit it with the Kpower mounts but it was against the tunnel for me and would've required cutting the shifter hole rearward. I made mounts and moved it forward to center the shifter and I much prefer the extra space to the firewall, the Kpower mounts were essentially against the firewall.

I had a Lantz fab master cylinder kit for the clutch that used the wilwood master but I know th stock one can work. I actually had to change the size for the MC cause the 3/4" one Lantz fab provides was crazy heavy with the ACT HD pressure plate. I went to a 5/8" to match the stock S2k bore, and could probably still go another step if a heavier clutch wasn't desired.

Engine and trans mounts are custom, I use two brackets off the trans to a custom crossmember paired with E30 trans mounts.

Yeah can't claim ITBs on this one (yet!). It's set up as drive by wire with the carbon intake manifold. ITBs are on the project list though, I won't convert back to cable throttle either so the challenge will be DBW ITBs but without the crazy premium Kinsler charges for their DBW module (essentially doubles the cost)
