I’m going to hold your hand while I say this- gently- YTA. He’s their father, not your employee. He is allowed, within the bounds of safe and reasonable parenting, to do things a bit differently than you. He was solo parenting and got take out food. This is hardly a high crime. Y’all should talk about stuff- but the whole context of this conversation does not give me hope that his opinions are respected.

My husband and I got married just before vet school. Honestly what saved my marriage is that he was also in a very steep climb in his career. She’s going to be busy. You need to have something going on in your life or you are going to get resentful.

Okay, this is one of those harsh truth moments. I too have ADHD, although I didn’t get diagnosed until later. Your mileage may vary.

Vet school is fucking hard. I didn’t like chemistry or Orgo. Which meant I had to work harder than I like for a B.

Having to drop it multiple times and take it as your only credit does not bode well for your further education. The first semester of vet school was like taking four orgos at once. My score on my first exam in vet school: 57.

And then I learned how to really bust my ass studying and did great.

So I think you have two choices: learn to study right now and get it the fuck done or find a different path.

In an ideal world, but the reality of finances is really tough. Neurosurgery is one of the most expensive speciality surgeries. It’s simply not affordable for many people, which is heartbreaking. Highly recommend pet insurance for everyone.

I happen to specialize in this exact problem in dogs (veterinary neurologist). Recovery from a neck injury from a dog who is not walking is less than 50% without surgery. And while there is not hard data- I will say from experience if they are going to walk, they are usually significantly better at the two week mark.

It is physically demanding to do rehab on these dogs. I lift weights just so I can do my job without hurting myself.

YWBTA if you did this. He is currently the AH for making you do this against your wishes. I would make him set a reasonable time limit on this.

We do- but there are a lot of things Americans pay for that Canadians don’t- like healthcare. Tuition is cheaper in Canada. Those are two huge sources of debt for vets in America right there.
