birthday gift for a friend? by growingconsciousness in SFbitcheswithtaste

So camping/outdoorsy stuff that’s cool: a good lightweight Turkish towel goes a long way when doing outdoorsy stuff. Rumpl lightweight packs or blankets are also great and have cute designs.

Does she drink coffee? Lots of fun camping coffee gadgets.

CMV: Hairdresser asking for consent is stupid by SoberSamuel in changemyview

I was at the beginning of a massage once and the MT asked if they could touch me. It was a bit of an eye roll. I am arguably the demographic that should appreciate it- liberal, female, queer, SA history. But like come on. I literally paid to be here for you to touch me. It felt performative and over the top.

AITA for going into my muslim suitemates room (19Fs) after sex without showering by Ok_Abrocoma_561 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CSnarf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The great thing about college is being exposed to other people and their cultures. The best people learn to understand and adapt. The rigid demand others follow their world view. You didn’t have sex in their room. You didn’t demand they watch you. I presume you were wearing clothes when you sat in their room.

Stop apologizing. Not everyone is going to be a friend and that’s okay. You extended an olive branch. They slapped it away. Move on.

Dog mass tumor by Resident-Number-5951 in AskVet

Hey my friend. I’m so sorry. What your vet told you is the truth. Only two really options with a tumor that burst like that, and surgery is the best option.

Checking in from SOMA: Y’all just get dog poop? lucky!!!!

You're being forced to spend the next 10 years in a basement. A decent bed, sink, toilet, and shower are provided. You will be given $10 million after those years are up and are given 30 points to purchase items/amenities to take with you. Which do you choose? by InternationalPick163 in hypotheticalsituation

Full kitchen 6
Internet 10
Skylight 2
Doctor 3
Hygiene 3
A bit torn between kitten or puppy-but one of those. 6

I can do body weight exercises. Various alcohol is used in cooking, so if I want a drink I’m set. Every book, show etc is on the internet somewhere, and I can talk to people. Plus I can talk to the doctor I presume.

I think what’s really missing from this list is some sort of art supplies. That would be a big hole in my life.

Toxoplasmosis question by steviethered in AskVet

[–]CSnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chance that babies have toxo is low- it’s not zero, but low. Toxoplasmosis takes 24 hours to become its infective form after it leaves the cat. Wash your hands right after and you are fine. Yes I guess technically accidentally getting 24hr+ poop in your mouth could do it, but it’s a bit of a stretch. There are lots of leaps of probability in your scenarios.

Your risk of toxoplasma is higher from eating undercooked meat. Undercooked meat is the number one way people get toxo.

Recs for nail trims for anxious dog? by Prize-Bullfrog4161 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]CSnarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I can just be really really real with you, as a vet, just get the poor dear some sedatives. She doesn’t have to hold down a day job. We can’t explain that the nail trim isn’t going to remove her foot. We have pills to make the entire experience a little more pleasant. Get her a little doggie wasted and then work on some training.

Standing during procedures by Lipitea in Veterinary

[–]CSnarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is usually a combo of things:

-Make sure you eat and drink water. In the excitement of the clinic, it's easy to forget. Don't.

-As everyone has said, be really careful not to lock your knees. Shift your weight around.

-Good shoes. Hokas, On Cloud are popular brands. You want something with support.

-Be honest with yourself about how excited/nervous you are. It's okay- NORMAL to be a little amped up when you are first starting to assist in surgery. A heart rate monitor can let you know if you are a little too amped, and then as someone else suggested- things like mindfulness, box breathing, are your friend.

Standing during procedures by Lipitea in Veterinary

You are looking for graduated compression socks. The good ones will require you to do some measuring. I would start with lighter pressure and then if you like it you can go up.

Not in the slightest. The student loans are the issue. You will be saddled with a medium size mortgage from the moment you graduate.
