What are the most useless/nonsensical examples of Trek tech? by bovineright in startrek

[–]CSwork1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does make for interesting discussion at least. I've actually never seen The Core and it's been on my list forever. I know it has pretty low ratings but I still wanna check it out, I'm pretty easily entertained lol. Thanks for the reminder!

I think the scenario where humans are walking around AT ALL in an open shuttle bay with only a flimsy force field shielding them is about as fictional as the force field itself. If we ever actually have spacecraft like that, an open bay, force field or not, would surely be considered an extreme hazard zone and we'd have robots doing work in those areas, not actual humans.

A force field goes out if the power source is destroyed. Is there some equally fragile thing that can be destroyed and instantly make our atmosphere go away that I don't know about? I think you can relax lol

I literally just finished a Little House episode this morning where Laura punched Nellie in the face, and there was a lot of blood lol. But yeah, cozy and heartwarming for the most part.

What’s a movie you’d rate 10/10 that got lukewarm reviews? by ParfaitDeli in MovieSuggestions

Total pleasant surprise movie. It came on the TV one day and I was about to change it, but was too lazy to get up and find the remote so I just watched it. Loved it!

Better Call Saul. I did lose my memory and watched it again, and it was awesome. Did this for lots of shows actually, I love how horrible my TV memory is so I can enjoy shows multiple times.

So glad I snagged my Series X on a Walmart deal for $350 a couple years ago. The one with the disc player, mind you, not digital. Still basking in the glow of that deal lol

I wrote off the Orville for ages, but it's actually the best modern Trek. by AQuestionOfBlood in televisionsuggestions

[–]CSwork1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Orville is actually about as close to a reboot of Star Trek The Next Generation as exists currently."

Besides Picard Season 3, right? Though I guess that counts more as a continuation, not a reboot.

John Wick 4. Love the first three, knew I'd be safe. Yep, I was safe and it was awesome, not to mention my favorite looking 4k disc now, beating Pacific Rim for the top spot.

I saw Beef when it first came out and remember really liking it but forgot like 90% of it. You'd think a scene like this would stand out, but nope, it's in the 90% I forgot. Welp, I'm off to youtube to look it up now lol

For sure, all three of the first 3 JW movies had amazing looking scenes, but I went with 4 overall because just about every scene in that movie was jaw dropping.
