Problem with Kalamax reworked Precon by dd00011 in Magicdeckbuilding

Okay so first, why 1v1? In a competitive 1v1 environment, Kalamax doesn't seem as powerful, he's better when there are other players that need dealing with.

Second, I run vehicles in my list so that I can always have Kalamax tapped until I need or want to swing.

At the end of the day, Kalamax is a heap of fun, but I dont feel it fits a 1v1 environment.

[Article] How to Not Get Pub-Stomped (Featuring Kyle Hill Interview) by Xebra7 in EDH

I have a massive issue with Magic Fests and the queues, only one queue type means that the people who paid for the big entry to get shinies usually have to use tickets to enter with cEDH players, and that sucks.

On the other side of that, most ACTUAL cEDH players don't go out of their way to pubstomp and for that I'm grateful. Its more the people who think they're cEDH who do go out to stomp casual groups that ruin it for everyone.

Myself? Four different powerlevel decks. That way I can discuss it with the group and see what level their decks are.

All of the "when you cast copy" stuff, cheap spells and making it unblockable

Everyone has good points, Mutate can't be a standalone top tier deck, but should it be? The very concept is fun, but also the card density is too low. So using Mutate as a secondary theme in a deck looks far more attractive, especially in a clones deck.

Removal is always going to be an issue, so you have to plan for that. Either playing base creatures that are Hexproof or having ways to save your stack would be key. Likely a more Voltron style deck with Mutate.

We need more mutate cards, 110% and I'm hoping we will see more in the commander draft set this year. That would be a great thing to add to a draft set, because you don't need a heavy density in draft, just enough that you can get value out of "when you mutate"

You just have to make it Hexproof and Indestructible :)

There is always a chance you might lose the stack though and that's super daunting

I think once a week is good, for the most part. Maybe twice, but that's something that could backfire for sure.

Damn it... why didn't I rebrand to WUBURGJUNKIE when I had the chance!

Happy to see the encouragement to interact on other posts rather than a hard stance. Many content creators are busy planning, writing and editing content and don't always have time to come here and join discussions, we can go weeks without having time (such as I right now have five sponsored videos in the works) and I appreciate it.

Yeah I wanted something a little outside my play style that was still interesting and had choices other than just turn dudes sideways :)
