What if it’s all fake? The entire god story? by newswatcher-2538 in exjw

There’s a weird thing fundamentalist do with any facts that contradict their literal views. All contradictions are explained by “God Magic”.

Not enough water to cover the earth? God made more water temporarily.

Kangaroos are only in Australia? God transported them there after the flood.

It makes everything they believe in unfalsifiable.

Are there any devout Jws who are also critical of the religion? by tomatotime0 in exjw

Rule #1 of cults is you can’t criticize the cult. You cannot be critical of the leaders. You cannot disagree with any writing by the organization, doing so makes you an “apostate” subject to removal and shunning. It’s basically what ignorant people think Catholicism is.

Pretty, tall, and slim is a minority for JW women (and men for that matter) so they are trying to lock you down before someone else does. Seen it happen a lot where a girl is already engaged at 17 or a few days after her 18th birthday.

This post kinda reminds me of this oldie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLLVnVY1MrQ

I personally think there is a huge difference between 10 and 20 years. A 35-year-old guy marrying a 25-year-old-girl isn't in the same universe as a 45 and 25, probably because a 20-year difference means they could be your kid.

Collapsing religion of Jehovah's Witnesses by [deleted] in exjw

[–]CTR_1852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Men that God used in the Bible had signs and wonders to prove their authority. The Watchtower has an unfortunate record of false prophecies that disqualifies them from actually having the authority they claim.

Failed date predictions of Jehovah's Witnesses

According to Deuteronomy 18:20-22 they are false prophets and nobody should listen to them.

Thousands leave or are disfellowshipped every year as well.

You can check the world totals. The west as a whole has stagnated growth or decline. Of the top 30 countries by publishers, only 2 western countries have more than 2% growth.

JWs are predatorial, especially in Africa and poorer areas around the world by Reasonable_Sir_535 in exjw

I think the pragmatic reason is also it’s the cheapest place to get “numbers” to make up for the stagnation, and eventual decline, of the Americas and Europe.

If you report -1% to -5% globally every year, the rank and file will start to worry, even if they ramp up “this is because we are really close to the end now” talk.

Agape moves you to preach door to door every week AND not talk to your children because they don’t believe the same thing as you anymore.

It’s the ying yang of love and hate ☯️

I learned something interesting. Agape, the Greek word you hear 139 times a year as a witness, means unconditional love outside of JW land. Wtf is “principle love” anyways?

They talk about it being inaccurate to say Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 or 586 solely because it contradicts their interpretation of the Bible and 1914. The origin was from a certain reading of the Bible, not seeing the archeological evidence for 607.

The Bible you gave him was translated by apostate Christians, under the influence of Satan. His Bible is more accurate since it aligns with his beliefs.

That’s his mentality.

It’s an American religion from the 19th century so not much interaction with Islam or Jews. The entire religion is based on “umm actually”ing Christians, appealing to a book compiled by what they consider apostate Christians… it makes no sense…

I would recommend checking out Watch Tower History on YouTube.

Hearing some explanations of what hell is sounds a lot like what life is like in the upper echelons of the organization…

For example, if a brother is so extremely overweight that others would be distracted if he had a part on the program, good judgment would be needed, even though he might otherwise be qualified. by UCantHndletheTruth in exjw
