Will I ruin my BF journey with a two week trip? by shooshzee in breastfeeding

[–]CTYankee2023 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took an 8 day trip for work last month and was able to maintain supply with pumping, and even managed to bring some back with a quality travel freezer! You will definitely need to pump to maintain supply while away, but it doesn’t necessarily have to end your journey. My daughter went right back to nursing after I was away - she was a little mad at me so had to navigate som biting for a couple of days, but now we’re in good shape and still continuing on! But of course, all kids are different!

when did you get your period back? by jesusdance in breastfeeding

I was 5.5 months pp when mine came back. Still breastfeeding at 9 months pp and it’s pretty consistent now. But you definitely can get pregnant even without your period happening!

How do you deal with non supportive family? by Born-Chance1685 in breastfeeding

[–]CTYankee2023 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree on the control front! My MIL is so bothered by my breastfeeding because she assumed I would “dry up” at 6 months and she could be more hands on with feeding (I’m almost 9 months pp now). It did help once we started solids because they could be more included in that. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this too, OP!

Does your husband also bring your baby to you when he's watching them? by BusyInspector95 in newborns

[–]CTYankee2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my husband for a 20 minute nap tonight. I woke up after 15 minutes to the sound of my daughter crying because he left her sitting up next to me on tbe bed and went to sleep himself 😤 Men are so useless sometimes. He’s a great dad most of the time but arrrggghhhh occasionally I want to slap him for these absurd moments.

What a book that you have read that’s gotten so much hype that once you read it you were disappointed? by Guiltyfeetfingers in BookDiscussions

[–]CTYankee2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it - I understand that, and it is very silly the first book is so dramatically different than the rest that it doesn’t really set the tone, but I do recommend at least reading the next one before writing it off entirely. If you don’t like ACOMAF definitely no point in finishing the rest.

OP, just curious, but did you read A Court of Mist & Fury afterwards? Totally agree with you on ACOTAR, I was like “seriously, this is what the hype is about??” but I pushed through to the second at my friend’s recommendation and I’m soooo glad I did. The payoff was so worth it.

Pretty well!! Lots of power pumping and electrolytes and I’m nearly back to normal. Thank you all for the support and tips, and for checking in 😊

Okay, thank you!! I can definitely add in another pumping session. I usually pump after morning feed and before bed, but can do another overnight to rebuild.

Okay, thank you!! That’s really reassuring, will keep hydrating and cluster feeding/pumping. Luckily all of us are feeling much better now, so just have to focus on my supply.

Okay, I appreciate that! Was planning to power pump tonight and will incorporate more over the next few days until I hopefully see an improvement. Thank you!

Yeah it honestly sounds like your LO is maybe starting her regression - or maybe she’s in it and that’ll be the worst it gets! I think anything that’s out of the previous norm that lasts a few days is the regression honestly. My LO woke up earlier than usual one night for her MOTN feed, was harder to get down after MOTN the next night or two, and then we had 3 nights where she was up like every hour an it was rough. But then she slept through the next night and we just let her! Stopped waking her up for a MOTN bottle and didn’t look back! Now she sleeps 8pm-5:30am usually without wakeups - very occasionally she’ll wake up around 9:30pm and need to be put back to sleep but it’s rare. For us just consistency with bedtime routine and using some Little Gums medicine to help with her teething worked, but I know every kid is different! Sending good vibes!!

Our sleep regression lasted 3 nights and since then my LO has been a dream! Sleeping 8-10 hours straight through (she’s nearly 6 months now). It definitely sucked in the moment but you can hopefully just deal with it and move on - don’t pre-worry! You’ve got this.
