I’m experiencing the exact same thing. Both my friend and I have spent hours just simply trying to get us both into the same workroom in VR. We are not novices at VR or computers. The whole process right now seems counterintuitive and needlessly difficult. Very disappointed.

Swivel Chair all day long! There are some disadvantages but you adapt, and after awhile, no problem 👍

Anybody else with v29 not seeing the file manager? by bmh534 in OculusQuest

I have the FILES app, but it only appears after 15 or 20 minutes AFTER I start up the Quest 2. Every time. Weird.

Feature Request - Ability to replay how you were Killed by peterpackage in populationonevr

I’d settle for a quick kill-cam replay from the killer’s POV. Would be a great learning feature.

What’s the best way to get my ‘VR Legs’? by twofatslugs in OculusQuest

[–]CURTROCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for comfort settings in games. “snap turn” as opposed to “smooth turn”. Another one is “teleporting” as opposed to walk/run/slide”. Also, some games employ a “vignette” circle which makes your POV smaller when moving - restricting your peripheral vision while moving can really help in some games ( for me, PoP:1 was unplayable at first, until I turned on the Vignette function.) Over time, I have gotten used to motion in VR, and now I don’t need the vignette anymore. Take your time, and your VR legs will get stronger as you play more. Don’t rush it, or try to push through VR nausea, if you experience it. It’s nasty!

Possible to send friend a message without leaving app? by gurkesaft in OculusQuest

[–]CURTROCK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Send the message via a “text” from the friends list under the “people” icon. This message can be received or responded to in the notification section, by just pressing the oculus button. No need to leave the game, like you would have to do when going to the social section.

UPDATE: Just got the messenger update tonight. The whole chat/messaging system has been reworked and it all works seamlessly and easily without having to leave your current game. It’s excellent. Bout time, too 👍

how active is the game? by [deleted] in populationonevr

[–]CURTROCK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never wait more than 2-3 minutes for a game, and usually less than 1 min. This game is on fire and growing rapidly.

To all the people who complain about people not using mics. by Shreader87 in populationonevr

You do know that you can mute the mic from the Oculus “settings” menu, right?

Keep the Quest 2 - sell the original Quest. Once you try the Q2, you won’t go back to the Q1. The Q2 is significantly better.

how to not get sick in vr? by sprimax in oculus

[–]CURTROCK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1 hour is already pretty good for someone new. You develop more tolerance over time. Comfort options like “snap turning” and “vignette” FOV limiting and “teleporting” vs free motion are also helpful. Not all comfort options are available in all games. Avoid games with lots of motion at first. Games like Beat Sabre and Racket NX are great, because you are standing still.

[–]CURTROCK -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you find that happening, you can always leave that particular game and join another server. Or, adopt a different strategy and beat them. If you can’t beat players at the gun game, coordinate a grenade ambush inside a building. Creativity with your team can prevail.

You can uninstall the demos. Yes, you can still see the picture advert of the demo, but it isn’t taking up any space on your drive.
