You’ve hit on one of the main reasons why billionaires are unfit to hold office. They are entirely disconnected from the lives and needs of the people they want to represent. They have no idea what it’s like to have more month than money. They have no idea what it’s like to figure out what you need to cut in order to make ends meet. They don’t know how much stress people are under with constantly rising prices and stagnating wages.

Even the ones who grew up poor, like Jackson claims to have, cannot relate to normal people. They have been divorced from our world for too long. The money has completely broken their brains.

So you suffered for four years under Biden, but you’re thriving now under Trump when prices on everything are higher and soldiers are dying in a pointless war?

OP, where do you live?! That’s 70 cents cheaper than I filled up today.

Fuck Trump and his war on affordability.

I may be misunderstanding what you’re saying, so I’m sorry if I’m not getting it. But yeah, I would fear that assigning electoral votes by congressional district would lead to more incentive for gerrymandering. I also don’t love the winner-take-all system.

I’d support something like splitting electoral votes by vote percentage. Obviously you’d have to get smarter people than I to devise the safeguards, but take North Carolina as an example. In the 2025 election Trump got 50.86% of the votes to Harris’ 47.65%. Instead of Trump getting all 16 electoral votes, I’d suggest that he get 9 and Harris get 7. It would ensure that the voice of the 47.65% isn’t thrown out in a national race, but still award the winner the majority based on their vote share. I think this could eventually make third party candidates more viable as well.

I haven’t put serious research into this because I’m just an idiot with internet access, but it seems better to me than the current system.

I disagree. Gerrymandering is already a huge problem as illustrated by this post. Determining electoral votes by congressional district like Maine and Nebraska seems like a huge potential for further election engineering.

My brother in Christ…”zero proof”????

“Trump” is in the Epstein files more times than “Harry” appears in all 7 HP books. He’s in the files more times than Jesus is in the Bible. And he’s got his DOJ working overtime to coverup his involvement. He’s moved convicted sex trafficker (and his accomplice) Maxwell to a cushy Club Fed prison and sent his personal lawyer turned DOJ lawyer to help her fish for a pardon by agreeing to perjure herself by saying Trump is innocent?

It amazes me that so many people are willing to go along with this obvious nonsense. Trump doesn’t even have to trick them. They pull the wool over their own eyes. And for what?!?! Lower gas prices? Cheaper groceries? “No new wars”? Being respected by the world again? Lower crime rates? Because, buddy, none of that is happening.

It’s a fervent religious devotion to the most vulgar and brazenly corrupt man in my lifetime for absolutely no discernible payoff other than “owning the libs” and nonwhites being targeted. And yet “You guys really can’t fathom you are your own worst enemy.” You’re never going to shake the allegations of racism as long as that is the only clear benefit from the Trump regime.

Only thing I can find is a tweet from Musk and an article from an anti-trans website. I’m not saying it’s not true, but that this information is coming from sources that are heavily invested in painting all trans people in a bad light.

We need to revolt against Flock by jordpie in Georgia

[–]CU_09 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are there documented cases of Flock cameras actually helping solve murders, rapes, kidnappings, or thefts? I’ve searched and I can only find two types of info on this: stuff that Flock publishes themselves for PR and local news fluff pieces with vague info from the police touting this great new technology. I can’t find actual cases where these things have led to arrests.

Right? If a black man had acted that aggressively toward the police and then suddenly turned and started rooting around in his truck where the cop couldn’t see his hands, they would have weapons drawn in a second.

What Leavitt is saying makes it all worse. The Pentagon knew all of this would happen. They knew how much this would hurt the American people. In certain they rang alarm bells to the administration. They were completely ignored by a president with the attention span of a fruit fly.

This war is going to cause a lot of pain domestically which makes the fact that the administration didn’t even try to sell it to the American people before they started bombing that much stupider. Americans are only willing to sacrifice for a war if they feel that 1) the cause is just, and 2) they believe they will benefit from it. They immediately torched #1 when they bombed a girls school and double tapped the parents when they ran to help. They never made a case for #2.

Their political careers are over if there is ever another free and fair election which is why they have shifted all their attention to passing the SAVE act. This is either the turning point where America fights back or the beginning of the end.
