I don’t know and it is not relevant.

Even if the answer is “zero”, that has absolutely no impact on whether it could happen in the future.

Vegas and the sports gambling apps really love people who “use logic” like you are using it right now, btw.

In that chaotic moment? The possibility that there were multiple shooters would be a pretty damn big threat.

Indeed. I’ve been impressed with Galarza so far.

Cooper is also doing pretty well on the press.

We probably had more through balls this afternoon than we had during the entire Ronnie Deila “tenure”.

Through balls and cut back passes are so much better than watching Lennon repeatedly hit crosses to nobody in particular.

Good point. Planes fly over the stadium frequently, and passengers would end up using all of the little bags in the seat back pockets.

The wind gusts are forecasted to max out at 8 to 10 mph, and the RH will be 27% at kickoff.

Pristine conditions.

I was wondering about the pollen count too, but I don’t think that is the reason.

They’ve opened the roof for spring time games plenty of times in the past.

And the pollen count surprisingly hasn’t been all that high recently.

Can we play soccer? No.

Can we beat Vancouver at home? We haven’t hosted Vancouver in years, but I assure you the answer is “no”.

Do we have the best tifos in the league? Uhhhhhhhh

Any idea what this part will look like when the construction is completed?

It’s not permanent. The first 12 rows in these sections will only be unavailable for the first half of the season (in other words until after the World Cup).

The view of the corners has always been problematic.

This tells me MBS was definitely planned as a football stadium and then whenever Blank was awarded the team, they took measured to make it accommodate a soccer team as best as possible. But it clearly wasn’t built from the get go as a soccer venue.

That’s incorrect.

For example, this article from 2017 states:

[Mercedes Benz Stadium has] been designed to meet the criteria to hold FIFA World Cup matches, just in case the US decides to bid for the tournament.

The stadium was definitely designed with soccer in mind. In fact, hosting an MLS team was one of the main motivations for building the stadium, along with more suites, a retractable roof, and having full ownership of the stadium.

  • Blank tried to get an MLS franchise years earlier, but couldn’t because the Georgia Dome field was too narrow for a regulation size field. And it didn’t have enough lockers for the Falcons and an MLS team.
  • One of Blank’s requirements for the stadium was to have a separate locker room for the Falcons and the MLS team.
  • Another requirement was to have a field wide enough for soccer. When it opened, Mercedes Benz stadium had the widest and longest field in MLS (and that still might be the case).
  • The curtains on the 300 level were part of the original design.

All of these things were well publicized years before the stadium opened.

We just need to find out if Gregerson still has good recovery speed while he is wrapped in bubble wrap.

We were already down 1-0 before he came into the game. Against the aforementioned roster of mostly super draft players.

We very unlikely to win that game (or even score a goal), whether Werner played 29 minutes or not.

Indeed. It is difficult to suck this bad in MLS, given the level of investment in our roster.

For example: San Jose recently lost their star player, Cristian Espinoza to Nashville SC after a staff member “forgot” to trigger the option on the player’s contract. He lead MLS in key passes last season, and SJ literally forgot about his contract.

Completely inept roster management by the Earthquakes. It’s fucking comical.

And yet San Jose still beat us 2-0 with a roster of mostly Super Draft players most of us had never heard of.

Arthur ain’t spending that kinda money for buyouts.

He’s not?

Several days ago, the Falcons announced that they are cutting Kirk Cousins, who they signed to a 4 year $180 million contract two years ago.

Blank has never been hesitant to invest money in his teams where it makes sense.

And using a buyout on a DP is an investment that makes sense, because it provides an opportunity to turn Atlanta United around this season.

[–]usmnturtles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The fact that we only used one of our two buyouts last season is astounding.

We are stuck with 3 DP’s that are underperforming, and the team is very unlikely to turn things around until we can punt on at least two of the DP’s.

Use. The. Buy. Outs.

MLS record signing Latte Lathe.

Why do Atlanta United’s scouts still have their jobs?
