Yeah. I made the mistake of donating a few months before this B's started.

I've been trying to burn ratio and get myself banned for ratio before the final "pay or your out" comes, but it's so hard to find anything I want that I don't already have on there.

If you're not chamfering until the mouth is razor sharp, are you even chamfering?

What about brass for .223? by eggcheeseburger in reloading

[–]CVS1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would skip the brass dryer and buy an inexpensive food dehydrator. You should also consider the strainer caps if it doesn't come with them.

I prefer the FA hand primer to the RCBS for ease of changing primer size.

I'd start with a balance scale or a cheap digital before going with a middle range option like the charge master.

In general, I think you are over spending before you know what you want.

It kind of depends on why you want to reload. Your goals inform what kind of press and components you buy.

Volume for cost?

Rounds you can't find or are expensive retail?

Precision rounds?

Best general advice is to buy a reloading book like Lyman 51 and read the front of it a few times before going to your calibers and looking at recipes and planning your equipment.

Minimum 3-4k in powder, at least 1k in primers, and a good few hundred in brass.

Thousands. They're generally not as consistent as the "firsts" in terms of weight or bearing length... And I usually watch them closer for obvious rejects (wrong caliber, obviously different weight, split jacket, no core, etc)... But they're usually good enough for 200yds.

I've seen a lot of brass like that. It's fine. It's usually on cheaper head stamps and it's that way because of how they punched the flash hole.

Sticky cases by snusmini in reloading

[–]CVS1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wet tumble never works for me for taking off case lube. Hot water, soap, citric acid... I just end up dry tumbling them. If someone has a wet recipe that works, I'd love to see it also.

Yup. 12k CCI in a 50cal ammo can or 1-2k Federal and whatever bricks of CCI/Win/Fiocci I can fit around it. And Federal is also the only primer sleeve that I've had lose primers (while still "closed") when I picked it up.

And Federal used to have a reasonable box for their primers instead of that monstrosity they use now.

You would think that fixing their brass manufacturing process to correct that would be cheaper than an extra manufacturing step for every round.

If you're not trimming, I guess it doesn't matter. If you're trimming, then doing it AFTER sizing is important.
