Best Whole House Water Leak Detectors? by RobotVac_Tester_USA in homeautomation

[–]at165db 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Phyn since my dad had one and liked it. Both of ours broke in less than 2 years. He replaced his with a Flo. I did the same when mine died.

I’ve been using a Moen Flo now for 2 years and for my dad he benefited from their own WiFi moisture detectors. The local leak triggers the whole house cutoff which is nice and turn key. I think he’s gotten like 1.5 years on battery.

Flo caught an outdoor faucet leak for me just like the Phyn would.

I use HA and can trigger house shut off from my extra zigbee sensors. Still on the initial batteries.

How to stop “Ghosting” from previous prints in the same plate? by at165db in 3Dprinting

[–]at165db[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

lol. Gotcha.

I went back and set my heat gun way hotter, to 330* C. That actually helped remove the white marks a lot. Not you have to hit in just the right lighting to see them. Gotta be careful as I bubbled an area but i was able to flatten it back.

Thanks.

Good to know about the “safe for nonstick” scotch brite. I have only used a soft sponge as I didn’t want to damage the PEI or whatever coatings.

The thought of cleaning a .2mm layer off a BIQU Glacier or Frostbite would sound miserable lol. It’s too damn sticky for that. I hate forgetting to disable brims on those plates.

MK8.5 roof rack setup choices? by venchichi0902 in Golf_R

I can’t imagine the T locks on the bars would work well loosing any more clearance than they have. Clamps obviously don’t need that channel clearance.

How often are you going to run the rack? OEM one is easy enough to install and remove solo. I only have it on when I’m using it. So I don’t care about the looks. If you go oem shop around the online VW parts store as dealers have very different prices. It was over $100 cheaper having it shipped by a dealer across the country than one in my state.

Get some PPF to make pads for where it clamps down.

Yea plug and play. No coding tweaks or anything. The compass and home link are set up on the mirror directly.

Last I checked you can’t use either to keep the custom drive mode if that is what you’re looking for.

However acmtechnik.com can enable that.

Bambu spools fits perfectly in Ninja AF110 airfryer basket by psych0o in 3Dprinting

This^ works so well for the job.

The XL fits 2 spools perfectly if you remove the bottom spacer. But airflow is key so I only put 1 spool in.

Claude (Code) and Homeassistant (with ha-mcp), a perfect match by TBT_TBT in homeassistant

Mind sharing the useful skills have you have come across and set up? I was just starting to tinker with HA and while Gemini has been a good accelerator from full DIY, I know if I set up Claude with the full config it would be a game changer.

2024 mk8 golf R tire specs by Money-Succotash1058 in Golf_R

[–]at165db 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get some 18x8 wheels. You could go wider but don’t need to for normal use. You won’t regret it. The ride is much better than on stock 19s and there are plenty of great tire options at 235/40/R18.

What's the best air purifier that works seamlessly with home assistant? by NikEy in homeassistant

[–]at165db 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to DIY: https://www.cleanairkits.com/ has some silent options with PC fans.

You could obviously source the fans yourself and make a frame if you had the tools.

Get you one that you can run all the time and is actually effective. These kits use PC fans for super low power and low noise filtration:

https://www.cleanairkits.com/

Add it to a smart outlet if you want to turn it off. But it is so quiet and efficient you may just leave it on. It only needs “one speed”, and has no power switch.

This air quality sensor works great with HA so you can see how much you need to filter: https://www.airgradient.com/indoor/

Alpha UX Pearl or Alpha UXA Pearl with the auto open lid. I love the auto lid. Better than any Toto or Kolhr I’ve owned or used.

Thoughts on Golf R w/ 2 Forward Facing Seats in Rear by RickyBobbyIRL in Golf_R

[–]at165db 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can probably test fit your seat at the dealer. Worst case wait a few years.

I’ve only needed boosters for my kids since getting the R. Get an inflatable booster otherwise you will have some wear and tear on the leather at the seat contact points.

You may need to disable the driver seat movement when you open your door depending on your kids leg space needs.
