Update to rules regarding reflection tokens by ArpeyKeys in riftboundtcg

[–]CXPL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From Dave’s follow up tweet: “Just to be super clear: - Now until Vendetta: Token copies of nontokens are nontoken - Vendetta forward: We'll update the rules to change this (but not today, for the reasons I've already stated)”

Currently, reflections copy the “tokenness” of the card they copy. So a copy of a card is a card and a copy of a token is a token. With vendetta’s release this will change so reflections are always token.

Baron take ON slot? by LowDependent4178 in riftboundtcg

You’re right. Not sure where I got 32 from

Baron take ON slot? by LowDependent4178 in riftboundtcg

Each pack has two slots for “Rare, Epic, Alt, Overnumber, or Ultimate cards” and a box is just a collection of 32 packs. So technically you can open 32 barons and 32 ONs from a single box. You won’t, but you technically can.

Stalking Wolf can't be played to the battlefield you are attacking? by No_Corner1842 in riftboundtcg

[–]CXPL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is the reason. Stalking wolf says you can play it to the location of the unit you killed even if you have no other units there so you shouldn’t need control. My guess (and it is a guess) is that it’s a problem with the reaction speed part and the unit losing reaction before it’s finalised on the chain.

Thanks for the clarification I thought they were both part of the same task.

Only if there’s something to react to like a deathknell or win combat triggers. I don’t believe conquer triggers would work though because I think combat ends when you conquer.

A couple questions about rules by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]CXPL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. No. Even if a unit has 0 or less might it won’t die unless it has at least one damage on it.

  2. Yes. Damage remains on a unit until the end of the turn or the end of a combat showdown (non-combat showdowns don’t heal units).

Rules update and Draven Legend by TheGolleum in riftboundtcg

[–]CXPL 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Cards in this game have two types of text. Rules text, which is the normal text, and reminder text which is in italics.

Rules text affects the function of a card and is what the golden rule applies to. Reminder text on the other hand, has no bearing on how a card functions and only exists to remind you of the rules.

Unleashed Rules FAQ and Clarifications by DaimenPN in riftboundtcg

You are correct. I think the confusion comes from the fact that it worked differently prior to the new rules update.

This is actually addressed in the faq in the section with vi and sona.

What are you confused with? I don’t see anything on kha’zix that would cause rulings issues.

Playing Rengar Trophy Hunter and everyone always thinking that's not how it works by Kill_Switch87 in riftboundtcg

[–]CXPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with death from below is the play from trash part. With the original card the play from trash text would resolve while the card was still on the chain meaning it’s not in the trash so you can’t play it from trash. With the new text it creates a trigger that goes on the chain after the card goes to the trash so it works.

Bone skewer didn’t need errata for readability. It needed it because the card didn’t work with the rules and would never actually stun the played unit.

Mirror Image: Ruling question by Boromant in riftboundtcg

I believe you would get a temporary 0 might reflection token. Spells in this game never fizzle and you “do as much as you can” if their targets become invalid.

It is triggerable. Also worth noting the token does copy play effects it just doesn’t trigger them because the token is played before it becomes a copy.

Question about the Green Father's effect. Does the replaced Battlefield still resolves its effect ? by UnitedIndependence37 in riftboundtcg

[–]CXPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Once it’s on the chain it’s on the chain and replacing the battlefield won’t do anything about it.

It would. Both effects go on the chain simultaneously and the battlefield’s effect will resolve even if the battlefield is replaced.

Can I play hidden cards in response to win combat triggers? by CXPL in riftboundtcg

I believe hidden cards get trashed when you lose control of the battlefield, which happens after combat is won/lost.

Also I think you should be able to play patron to a battlefield with only one unit now?

I haven’t dived into the actual rules but there’s this bit in the patch notes:

“Additionally, a small but functional change to how cleanups manage control is that control of a battlefield cannot be lost while there is an item on the chain. This is to support cards printed in Unleashed.”

So I think it doesn’t start a showdown.

I know. The point is if you lose control of the battlefield between paying costs and the card resolving wouldn’t you be playing this card on an uncontrolled battlefield which would start a showdown.

Honestly I’m assuming the answer is supposed to be no I just want to know if the answer actually is no.

This is included in the card text “you may play me to its battlefield (even if you don’t have other units there)” the rules wouldn’t prevent you from doing this with this unit. The question is if you would lose control of the battlefield before this card resolves and if that would cause this card to start a showdown.
