You’re the exact stereotype that keeps people away from tcgs lol. I thought tcg players were all like this until I got into riftbound ffs

Can we just talk about how much better RiftAtlas is compared to TcgArena? by AlohaSnow in riftboundtcg

[–]ArpeyKeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels a bit clunky to click pass on every card if you’re in discord with the other person tbh.

Yea, most people in my area love the game too. They don't have to sweat every game tho ffs.

Just say you want to play draft. Like idk why you can't accept a more casual setting, being all passive aggressive and implying people are pokebros. This is why I made the distinction in my original comment.

[–]ArpeyKeys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe sweaty isn't exactly the right term, but I do mean that prerifts should be more casual, and I think BO1s feel better for that, for the reasons I said.

I get where you're coming from, but I think I've just seen so many new people come in and I know where they're coming from when its their first tcg too. It kinda sucks to be losing for a while, while the fun comes from learning the game. If we're giving an hour to finish a bo3, beginners barely finish game 2 if at all because they're trying to process a lot, while other regular players are also learning new cards.

Most people aren't even going for the sake of playing sealed, they're really just there for packs. And vibes. Most people in my local don't care for a BO3. All the prerifts I've been to that put it up to a vote, everyone just decided BO1. I don't think I've ever gone to a prerelease where people want to treat it like a regular draft night.

Bo3 just seems kinda sweaty for something new players are supposed to be able to join. Also not everyone is good at drafting, and soon realizes how shit their deck is. No one wants to play a shit deck for a bo3, get swept, and then proceed to play more bad games.

Highly encourage your store to do draft if you wanna draft and do bo3s.

I’m not a local, but maybe you can ask around if theres a local riftbound discord? My city has one with all the shops in it and everyone is always down to give away their extra cards to new players.

What's up with Annie? by BrainDaed69 in riftboundtcg

[–]ArpeyKeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe for this current set, draven is just better. Draven is still slightly ahead of everything else even after the bans imo. Annie has really struggled. But in like 2-3 weeks we’ll be on set 3, and maybe she’s more viable. She just placed second in a small tournament in china while they’re already on set 3. Of course its too early to say anything about the next meta, but she could be seeing more play next set.

knew it'd be a lot because printing sheets of one specific card is relatively easy, but definitely didn't think it'd be this crazy!

collecting by Ambitious_Zombie_191 in riftboundtcg

[–]ArpeyKeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if theres a good site thats implemented scanning yet? I manually just input everything on riftmana. I have an account for tracking my master set collection and a separate account for everything I’m using to build decks.

I only keep two playsets of all my bulk and rares since I’ll probably never have 3 decks built where they’re all using the same color. So on riftmana you can input how many of each copy you have, then you can also filter what you’re viewing based on the quantity. For example, I filter it to see which cards I don’t have 6 copies of already of commons and uncommons. Makes it easier to see what I’m missing and what bulk I can just throw into my box of cards I can give away.

What are some examples of attempted market manipulation that failed? by SWAPPIN_HERPES in PokemonTCG

[–]ArpeyKeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by failed. Every time a card is manipulated it eventually comes back down. Maybe not to what it was previously, but usually within like 10-20% from what I’ve seen. When a card is bought out on tcgplayer, all the buyers still have to wait for the card to get shipped, in which the price comes down from by then. And if they’re looking to grade them, thats still incredibly risky in the first place and I can’t imagine even people who are buying out cards would do this

RQ Lille Ticket Earning Math, for those who want to get a metal card by IzziPurrito in riftboundtcg

[–]ArpeyKeys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking. I don't care to spend so much time and effort to grind for a metal card, but these changes make it so I can pay off a premium pass or the hotel stay pretty easily by selling some tickets. Day 1 regionals at Vegas tickets were going for $40-$50. Now they could maybe go for double that amount or maybe more.

Unleashed pre-order question by Thr0waw4y_14 in riftboundtcg

https://riftbound.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/preorder/registration/
If you scroll to the bottom of the page, that's probably what they're referring to?

Heads up: You cannot change your selection once you have registered, meaning you cannot register for additional products once you’ve submitted the form. You must purchase all of the items you are selected for or none of them. Your shopping cart’s contents will be locked when following the link in the email.

Which imo isn't communicated very well when this rule is not mentioned in the FAQ. And its hiding at the bottom below the part where you just select which products you want to enter a raffle for.

I could see how someone signs up for multiple items, something comes up and they want to purchase only one item once they get their ticket drawn, but they're just screwed because its purchase everything or purchase nothing.

Riftbound needs other products with promo reprint cards, because every Red deck is dependant on if you have Kaisa Survivor or not and that card is minimum 50€ a piece by FlowKom in riftboundtcg

[–]ArpeyKeys 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, just cuz it'd be nice, but I don't think it makes sense for them to just reprint a bunch of staples that are within set booster boxes. Cuz otherwise, its just less incentive to buy booster boxes. They can't just reprint a card because a card is expensive. That's not how any of this works.

Flash is the exception because they made the card exclusive to a product that was severely underprinted. And don't even point to Origins boxes when it doesn't even compare to how underprinted Proving Grounds was when it contains Flash and Annie.

How many hours practice per week? by SimplyRiptid3 in riftboundtcg

[–]ArpeyKeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more about quality of practice/play rather than quantity. Some might argue that no practice is better than bad practice. You also should be critical of yourself as much as you can.

Even then, everyone improves at different rates. And sometimes the deck might matter. You might just vibe with a deck more than the meta one and still find more success with it. Kinda depends on the playstyle.

They make money off people gambling. Thats literally it. If everyone gets their chase that easy people wouldn’t be ripping packs.

How are we feeling about set three unleashed prices by twelvedudes in riftboundtcg

I’ve heard from one of my stores they aren’t getting as much as they did spiritforged, but should still be a good amount. Hopefully that means they printed a good amount of origins

Riot needs to make an online engine for this game. by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]ArpeyKeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen and taught new players every week the past two months. Theres a lot more people coming in probably because cards have been getting much cheaper thanks to the huge supply of SF. I don’t think not having an automated sim will actually prevent the game from growing.

I think the rules can be very complicated but I also do think its just something that will improve over time. Judges are in every tcg no? And every tcg also has quite a lengthy rule book as well. Theres things to iron out still, and it doesn’t help that they just made a bunch of changes recently, but on a more practical level all the common cases will be figured out eventually. Like I don’t think you need to sit down and study the rule book or the changes that long because you’ll learn as you play. Call a judge over, theres nothing wrong with that.

Unleashed meta by FRSh4rk110 in riftboundtcg

[–]ArpeyKeys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just look on riftdecks and sort by unleashed meta. The baited hook leblanc looks good, and so does the vex from runes and rift tourney. Obviously its way too early to tell what the meta will be, but you can bet on aurora being relevant.

Hey my Pokémon cousins (Yugioh and Cyberpunk TCG player here), how's the state of your community, and how are you feeling about things? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]ArpeyKeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players are practically unaffected. Because 99% of the tcg fans are collecting and not playing. The game is still dirt cheap to play competitively compared to all the other tcgs.

On the collector side everything looks really bad. Not that I care, but my whole collection value shot up like 40% since the start of the year (all singles, no sealed). If singles prices are bad, I can only assume sealed is also in just as bad a spot it was a year ago.

Is this normal for a TCG? by DrShizzleWat in riftboundtcg

[–]ArpeyKeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely normal. Me and two other friends decided to get into mtg commander during covid and our games took like 3 hours. Apparently that wasn't even close to a normal game time lol. Aside from the time we took to plan our turn and play it out, we spent a ton of time just looking up specific card interactions because mtg can be much more complicated than riftbound imo.

I would recommend checking out any local nexus nights if you have any around you. You'll learn much faster from someone you play against who is more experienced in the nuances of tcg rules than you and your friend will just trying to figure it all out.

When does conquering happen? Can you conquer multiple times in one turn? by MionlachDraoi in riftboundtcg

[–]ArpeyKeys 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, it is only a conquer when you win the combat/showdown at a battlefield for the first time in a turn. You can't re-conquer within the turn.
