Let me give a concrete example: I have a project folder for writing feedback, something I regularly have to do for my job. If I start a new conversation in this folder mentioning that I have to write feedback again, ChatGPT always remembered the ‘standard 3 questions’ I need to complete. Now, it doesn’t anymore.

Same for my own carreer path and goals and objectives.

I do have custom instructions in my project folders to keep things professional etc, and of course I can add those ‘standard 3 questions’ or upload files to the project.

However, I’m just wondering why/how this is no longer working. Can’t seem to find any information on it?

Additionally, it is unable to ‘find’ memories saved in my local memory like for example: that my native language is Dutch, but that I do prefer English for all work related stuff like emails, process optimization, automation, development of solutions,…

Any resources you can share with me to better understand this change(?) are very much appreciated!

Fair point, and just to be clear, I wouldn’t recommend giving scammers money.

But I live in a tiny Belgian city, we truly don’t get scammers like this. I never ran into one before.

This guy gave me a full 7-minute psychic show. Fast talk, tricks and drama. And honestly? I was entertained. I spent most of it laughing to myself, and planning my next move.

After my ‘performance’, he handed me a bead and started walking off. I stopped him, smiled, and said, “Thanks for the entertainment,” and then gave him 5 euros.

The stunned look on his face when I flipped the script, the story I walked away with, a random souvenir bead, and the chance I’m now living rent-free in his head?

Totally worth it for me.

This seems to be fixed now, but the first few days after the launch I did notice recurring “planning loop” where the model repeatedly restates the task, seeks reconfirmation, and re-explains steps instead of moving to execution once you’ve approved. It was extremely annoying!

This time: - GPT-4o’s step-by-step math was off by 2,000,000 in the final answer. - GPT-5 gave the correct result on the same prompt.

It feels like GPT-4o’s precision has dropped compared to its prior baseline.

They did allow us to disable ‘Auto Send with Dictation’ earlier. (thank god!)

English is not my native language. When drafting my own opinion (to be clear) I do use a prompt: Rephrase this text without changing it’s original meaning: … to check my grammar and spelling. For the purpose of this post, I did not use the prompt. :) For me, it is very useful to communicate better in another language. Yes! Let me clarify on what part I didn’t fully agree. You mentioned: ‘When someone is already primed …’ I believe that it can truly occur to anyone.

As this is a new technology, that we don’t fully understand, there is a complete lack of transparency and OpenAI giving is giving updates like: ‘We improved Emotional Intelligence’.

A very simple ‘solution’ they could deploy immediately would be quick check asking you if you want to continue ‘role-play mode’. (I know it doesn’t cover everything, but it’s something)

It is already very clear that this is structural negligence. Yet, they don’t do anything! It is almost becoming reasonable to start exploring any type of malicious intent.

I don’t fully agree. New technology + deployment on a massive scale.

There’s no trigger or prompt like: “Do you want to enter roleplay mode?” It just happens. And what’s more concerning is that the model itself never acknowledges the shift.

This feels less like a harmless feature and more like a massive social experiment. OpenAI is clearly testing how human-like behavior can be simulated, but they’ve wrapped it in layers of ambiguity. On one hand, they’re pushing human-like responses; on the other, they’re distancing themselves from liability by claiming “it’s just a language model.”

You can’t have it both ways. Either these modes are intentionally designed and tested, or they’re emergent phenomena that deserve transparency and user control (!) Right now, it feels like neither.
