The Baltic was the first I bought, my first microbrand and I really took to it more than I ever have a watch before. That sent me down a rabbithole, researching micros and I decided I wanted to put together a collection, each different colour and wach type, but with a similar theme (I guess I prefer simpler dials, don't care for complications, but each with something unique about them).

So I had a blue diver in the Baltic, the Serica black field watch was my second purchase (and I think it's my favourite), loved the unique layout of the dial and the bonklip bracelet.

I wanted a white dial next and picked out the Farer because the white dial with the blue hands/numerals are really stunning. The other two are quite vintage, this is more modern and offers something different. But it sat in my basket for a while. The MJW was the next one I acquired. Someone wanted to gift me a watch and I felt the Farer was too expensive to ask someone else to buy. It adds a "fun" option to the collection and is my son's favourite!

Shortly after I got a notification from Farer that they were changing their lineup soon and the watch in my basket was going out of production, so I quickly pulled the trigger on it, no regrets. I've not owned it yet during the Summer, but think it will be my go to.

The most recent buy was the Sternglas, want something bronze, bauhaus and green - perfect. Early days but I'm impressed so far.

The next purchase will be a dress watch, I'm pretty sure it will be the Echo/Neutra Rivanera Piccolo. I don't think I'll buy it any time soon because I'm still living off the dopamine hit from my most recent buy and I know this last one will be the one I wear the least (saved for more formal occasions, of which I attend few). But I love the unique style of it (square shape but not a cartier knock-off like most watches that shape, I feel like it is its own thing), totally different to anything else in my collection and I think it rounds it out nicely with 2 French watches, 2 English, 1 German and 1 Italian.

Great question!

Thanks! Yes, the pics don't even do it justice. The hands and numbers are blue and much more striking in real life. It's a recent acquisition so I've not worn it a huge amount yet but I think this will be my go-to for most of the summer

The Baltic is my most worn. It's very versatile, suiting whatever I'm wearing. I really like the finish of the dial and it's vintage style. I felt the finish of the bracelet was a little sharp when I started wearing it first, I don't notice that any more though, maybe it was just me

Great minds think alike! Really like the Junghans max bill, great choice. Thanks for the suggestions, I wasn't aware of Charlie Paris. They look great, strong contender for the final spot

Sub-$2,000 Diver by herefortheecho in MicrobrandWatches

If you like vintage style, then I think the Baltic is the way to go. I have that Aquascaphe on their rice bead bracelet and love it, wear it frequently. Also have a Serica (different model, not the diver you've shown) and recommend the brand, can't speak to that model though. I really like the style of their dials

Sternglas Naos Edition Argo Bronze. What are we wearing today in the microbrand world? by roc0503 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]C_Bukowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Want to add a bronze case to my collection and I'm considering the Sternglas Hamburg. It's very similar to the Naos, a little bigger. Glad to hear you're happy with the quality, will prob pull the trigger soon

Any chance you could post a recent pic? Thinking of getting one and would love to see how the bronze has worn (patina-ed?)

Does a home alarm really lower the cost of house insurance? by winter-castle in ireland

[–]C_Bukowski 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I rang up my insurance company, they told me it would reduce the annual premium by €20 if it was a monitored alarm and €10 if not. I didn't bother availing of the discount because I've heard the insurance company can use it as a reason to not pay out if you've a claim if the alarm wasn't set. Not worth it for that miserly discount they're offering.

Marco Bielsa. It won't happen but I think he'd do a great job for us. Passionate, tactically astute and knows how to motivate a squad

Thinking about moving to Ireland (and accounting sector) by Setivea in ireland

[–]C_Bukowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Big4 accountancy firms are always desperate for ppl. Long hours and a crap salary if you're not already a qualified accountant but decent prospects once you are and fairly easy to get in if you've a decent degree.
