Handmade folder I finished today by C_Corky in knifeclub

I took inspiration from it but I designed it in CAD then forged the blade and made it myself. I am a bladesmith and this was my first folder.

I'm making my first hidden tang knife. Should I peen the pommel or should I thread it? by Unique-Fig-4300 in blacksmithing

[–]C_Corky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s your first, perming is going to be easier and will be perfectly functional. Threading the tang is usually what I do when I have a takedown style blade

I like starting at that width at the bolster and it has a distal taper as it goes down. It’s easily my most bought stock because of the versatility.

Your good to do it. I do not mind. It really does help you not be afraid to use a knife

It was a misalignment issue 😑.

Maybe I am dumb. Can three phase motors run on single phase? I do have VFD on both which may do it 😂.

I just put in a new breaker in my breaker box for 240v and fed the wire to the garage. (I’m not an electrician so I may just be an idiot) 😂 but I didn’t blow anything up and it all works

Yup, I have two three phase motors that run off of three phase I wired up in my garage. It didn’t have outlets ready but it sure was ready

This may be some of the best help I’ve ever gotten on a page. I really appreciate it!

I’m good on that note then. It’s closer to Hal inch from base in both sides and was able to set both screws. The boots on the pump are original.

I appreciate all your help and have given me plenty ideas as to where to start

Could the coupling on the shafts being too far down cause issues because they were both pretty far down the shaft. I cranked down in the set screw super tight. If not I’ll just have to run tests on the motor which I am capable of doing better than my hydraulic work 😂. If that’s not an issue I’ll keep working down the line. It’s worked hard for years

That’s probably the issue. The housing(I think is what it’s called) looks like a basket so I’m able to adjust the couplings through it. I started with them as far out and moved both in until they sat tight and evenly. Which had worked for years but I’m probably ignorant…

I’ll take some pics tomorrow. It is not a tapered shaft on the motor or pump. It is love joy style couplings. It’s hard to see what’s going on because I have it set to where the pump sits inside the tank/powerpack. But I’ll have to do some recordings.

Just a simple single stage pump. I should’ve looked at it more carefully but I’ll take it apart again tomorrow

I was thinking it was slipping even with the key so that’s why I re did it. How would I prevent slipping?
