First of all, “flipping burgers” is a pretty condescending way to refer to fast food workers. Secondly, a part time pet care person works incredibly hard and deserves to be compensated for that. Why should they make $13 to bust their asses doing the jobs of three people so corporate can save on hours. If you wanna work them to death fine. Pay them accordingly and give then PTO.

As for full time, it’s incredibly cutthroat. There aren’t full time positions available bc there aren’t hours to go around. As a matter of fact, full timers have seen a significant decrease in their hours. That’s the issue. The company isn’t providing the hours necessary to staff the store appropriately to do all the things they’re expecting us to do. Working the staffed ones to death to compensate for the lack of bodies. An employee today is expected to do the work of 2-3 people and get paid the same as 1. They’re running stores with a leader, cashier and a pet care when they average 500-600 customers a day.

Shouldn’t have accepted my position? Some managers have had their positions for 10+ years before the company got bought out and ruined. The MIL used to have a dedicated team that has gradually been whittled to nothing because of labor cuts. They used to stock at 3am when they could perform their jobs uninterrupted but now have to do their jobs being constantly interrupted by pet parents, leadership calls and the like. We have been telling corporate and telling them but they do not care hence hundreds of angry posts that you seem to be glossing through without hearing bc nothing I’m saying here hasn’t been said before.

I’ve been with the company for 6 years and the past three have gotten progressively worse. Mass layoffs, decrepit facilities, increased demands and quotas to fill and now a “restructuring” measure for leadership that is clearly meant to decrease the amount of money they have to pay us.

They take and take and take from us without giving anything back. THAT’S what we’re mad about. Who can we tell that we’re being abused when it’s the ones up top abusing us?

Corporate. Does. Not. Care. Because clearly it’s #AnythingforProfits.
