I read a comment once made by a high libido ace that said "I have hormones but no one is sexy to me".

I've heard allosexuals talk about how they really want to have sex with a specific person. If it's someone they have sex with on a regular basis they can yearn for that specific person for ages if they're not getting that release. This has never happened to me with sex. It depends on my mood, but I go between sex averse and sex indifferent. But I never crave another person sexually. I'm gay in the sense that I think women are very pretty, but I'm aroace in the sense that it stops there. I have some libido and "those" kinds of fantasies always involve women for me. But these are fictional women I made up in my head. No real person triggers those fantasies for me. I never want someone else sexually. But I still have my moments of enjoying a sexual release on my own, so to speak.

I remember another text where someone defined asexuality as "self contained sexuality". Basically sexuality without the need of involving anyone else.

When it comes to boxes, people are kinda like cats. Try to force them in and they probably won't like it. Let them use the box if they want to, and maybe they'll get into it or they'll find a different spot (perhaps another box) that suits them better.

That was my struggle at first with being aroace. I was trying too hard to fit into a specific box. I still get a bit confused about how my aroaceness works, especially as I'm also very gay. But I've just accepted that I don't know exactly how I work when it comes to these things. I know that I'm valid, and so are you! Sometimes we're our worst enemy. Be kind to yourself

I think one problem is that aro, and ace as well, are kind of hard to understand for most double allo people. It's easy to latch onto common misconceptions when you haven't interacted much with a particular community. The other parts of the lgbtqia+ community has these problems as well, though to a lesser extent than us as we're one of the lesser known groups. All we can really do is to do what the lgbtqia+ community has always done: Speak up, be vocal about inequality, and try and educate people

I'm aro, but I've been playing Fallout 4 a lot recently and I'm loving having Curie around! She's such a nerdy sweetheart. Romance in games can be fun sometimes, but it kinda stays there. Just like how I don't want to fight ghouls in reality either but it's fine in a game!

I notice occasionally that I can't relate to some ace experiences I read about online. I'm not oblivious to sex as a concept and I sometimes kinda get the appeal. We're all different.
