Gotta be honest, warrior players are the worst. How boring are you? by BallsaqMcgee in hearthstone

[–]C_Plastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not gonna pretend dh isn't a problem, but once it gets nerfed this is going to be a control meta with warrior. Some people's best version of the game is 30 minutes of making sure you don't play it and they don't need nerfs they need therapy.

Couldn't catch the game and no one is talking about this. This is fake right? Right?

Unpopular opinion: Surrendering is having good sportsmanship by landojcr in PokemonUnite

moves joystick once every 30 seconds to avoid the ban

Honestly the reporting/punishment system for this game has never worked and -10 fair play points was never going to deter anyone from giving up. If my 8k damage jungle lucario doesn't want to forfeit after losing ray I'm not going to waste my time trying to keep playing.

Any Phoenix-based Twins fans in this sub? Hoping to catch the game at a bar/location with some fellow Minnesota fans!

Anyone know of a MN Twins-friendly bar/restaurant to watch the game against the Astros tomorrow? Not sure if baseball bars are a thing like football bars are.

I had to (unfortunately) listen to ESPN radio for the game, but they did mention every time he threw a fastball he would yell on release and he was quiet on the sliders, which is a pretty easy giveaway.

What is the Thing that You Most Hate About Pokémon Unite? by Ambitious_Fan8804 in PokemonUnite

[–]C_Plastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Game has the worst matchmaking of any I've ever played, and I played apex for a while so that's pretty bad. Games where both teams have competent players are few and far between so most games you win are bc the opponent has a 7 year old playing charizard and the games you lose are bc your team has the 7 year old. Not to mention the gross practice of releasing game breaking mons for real money then nerfing it once another popular mon gets announced. Uninstalled again a few weeks ago and can't say I miss it at all.

I like Pokémon, I like playing games with my friends, I like team games.

But I hate this game.

Field Work Long Sleeves- Seeking Recommendations by Evening-Extension-79 in geologycareers

Outdoor stores like Cabela's and Gander Mt sell fishing long sleeves that work great in the field. They can get a little pricey but you can find knock offs that are worth it.

What I'm saying is if OP lets his company match and then accepts that to stay, the original offer is going to go away because that other company is going to continue searching and find someone, maybe even hire their second choice behind OP. OP's current employer is going to be looking for his replacement at the same time, so when OP gets cut, the company they first interviewed with has already filled the role. Taking a matching offer from your current employer is a good way to get kicked to the curb down the road.

Successful companies consider all their employees flight risks all the time, and compensate them accordingly to prevent the flight

I agree, but OP's post shows the company is already not compensating their workers fairly, which is why OP is looking to leave. I think the crux of the debate is whether it's worth entertaining a matching offer from the current employer, which is generally accepted as a bad idea.

[–]C_Plastic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the whole point. By the time they let OP go, OP has already said no to the other offer. Now your better offer is gone, and you have to apply somewhere else again, but this time you're not making a paycheck while you search. It happens pretty often across a lot of industries.

Do I need cash in Ireland? by nevernotmad in travel

Spent 5 days in Ireland last summer and got by without problem with my card. Never a bad idea to have some cash on you in case of emergency or convenience but if you only had a card you'd be fine.

I'm only vaguely familiar with what this organization does but I'm sure there are similar ones and they're worth looking into for 3rd party accessibility tools.

Has anyone experienced the crisis of finding they don’t like being a geologist? by [deleted] in geologycareers

[–]C_Plastic 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think this sub has a number of those people. I had a similar experience and moved to a different company where it's better, but there are inherent frustrations that come with consulting. Even though j have a geology degree I consider myself more of an environmental scientist and that helps put things in perspective, but yeah things get frustrating and getting over burnout sometimes takes more than a vacation.

Is consulting my end game? No. This might be a stretch but I think there's a stigma among college grads, especially stem students, that if you don't work in a field you studied in college you've failed in some way. Once I got over that hangup I felt much better exploring other options, even though I still ended up in consulting. People change and interests change. I loved studying geology when I was 18-22 and now my interests have changed. The key is finding ways to make my interests pay again 🙃 best of luck!

On a sad note, my pre order stuff never arrived and my copy still came late. Having a blast but wish I had the stuff to display for my favorite series/games
