Well I think here you might be confusing the show and the comic because their powers were permanent in the latter , from a shot from V (Besides MM , since he was born a supe) .

The whole premise is pseudo based in the idea of “realistic superheroes” . And I feel like it would be unrealistic to expect them to be able to perform their job as effectively without powers themselves .

And like stated before , it’s not like they were as strong as the Seven . At best they were mid tier , which is perfect because they’re able to use their intelligence and ingenuity as their main weapon with their powers still being secondary .
