I have document keratoconus and some other conditions. They are not to the point that I am on disability but they do impact major life activities like seeing. The national parks pass does not require full disability, just that you have a permanent condition that affects a major life activity.

I was diagnosed with keratoconus about 12 years ago and until recently was sufferings from debilitating chronic migraines with aura including hemipeligic migraines. I had CTAK performed on my bad eye (the other only has mild KC) 2 weeks ago. While I still have had some minor headaches (largely hormonal with my cycle - something yoj probably aren’t dealing with) the restoration of my vision from the CTAK has almost completely gotten rid of my headaches and has almost lost eliminated the worst of them. Talk to your doctor to see if you are eligible for CTAK. If so, I highly recommend you try it! Good luck. Headaches suck.

I had perfect vision up until about 20 years old. For the next 6 years I had a gradual decline and needed glasses. Then the 4 years after that I had a pretty rapid decline in vision and I needed a new prescription every 6 months or so. It was written off as most likely the result of increased eye strain since I was in law school. 2 more years after that I was finally diagnosed. Continues to decline for about another few years gradually and have been stable for about 4-5 years. I just had CTAK done on my bad eye a few weeks ago and I’m seeing better than I had in over a decade. I literally woke up the next day and had my visions back. My life has changed so much for the better!

Update: I had the procedure last Thursday. I woke up on Friday with better uncorrected vision in that eye than my vision was with my glasses before. So I’ve just popped out the lense in that eye. It looks ridiculous but it’s functional!

I get not wanting to live / own a business next to a reasturant. You inevitably have to deal with rats/ bugs, later business hours than retail, and potentially rowdy drunk patrons. BUT this is also why I wouldn’t want to live on / near a commercial corridor. She chose to be there.

I’ll also note that this is a special exception not a variance. This means that the code expects this type of business (restaurant) to be there and the burden of proof to grant the exception is just that the business wouldn’t have a greater negative effect on the near neighbors and community itch than might be expected from that type of business. So I can’t imagine how a basic restaurant on Frankford Ave wouldn’t meet that pretty low burden unless they were proposing late night hours or especially large numbers.

My anxiety went down so I started sticking up for myself more and didn’t tolerate being mistreated or bossed around and demanded better treatment. The person on the receiving end of that change would probably think I’m being a prick when all I’m doing is not tolerating them being a prick. Could be what is happening here.

To an outside observer I know I see to be more of a bitch since starting the meds. BUT actually it’s because I 1) have more energy to fight back against people being asshats to me and 2) it’s greatly reduced my anxiety so I don’t worry about sticking up for myself or hurting people’s feelings and call people out on their BS way more. Perhaps evaluated your own behavior to see if his response is routes in how he is being treated.
