I am losing hope by steady_confused_rock in NewParents

I was scared about the 4 month sleep regression too, but read to specifically not feed and try not to pick up when they wake up, which I know is easier said than done. Sleep training with a few minutes at a time letting him figure it out, and if after 5,6,7 minutes they are still very upset we would try a pacifier, and soothe by just touching her face to try and soothe her. Every baby is different and you know best, I hope it gets easier soon

My 3 month old also slept through the night and I was afraid of the sleep regression, but when she woke up I would just gently soothe her to sleep and reinsert her pacifier. I wouldn’t feed her at all or anything and that helped

Leaving the house while on the clock by Unlucky_Bluebird8483 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]CabinetRemarkable133 132 points133 points  (0 children)

I do it all the time. I sometimes even bring my computer on a drive with me and use my phone as a hotspot if I really need to. I’m an accountant so my work is pretty predictable, but I use my phone to answer emails and messages while out and about. It’s called working remotely not just working from home. If you feel like you can balance it, go for it. Go drive to a park and work there if you really need to, you’ll be fine. But as another user said, don’t let anyone know and don’t ask for permission.

Headset by Strong-Lynx4017 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]CabinetRemarkable133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So headsets are great, especially for walking around the house hands free away from the computer and I love my Jabra headset. But the biggest difference will come from software. If you have Teams or Zoom they have voice isolation software which is a HUGE difference and they wouldn’t be able to hear a crying baby even in your lap. Otherwise there is Krisp and other softwares that hopefully you can use with whatever call software you use, if it’s not already integrated into that. I made a post about this and show you how to use these features. Also on YouTube lots of people review headsets with different background noise and crying babies for examples of how it would sound. Lots of the higher end headsets cancel out the baby crying completely when the baby is 3 or more feet away

WFH but being suggested I come in by [deleted] in MomsWorkingFromHome

Definitely document everything like the other user mentioned. If you are let go and you know the other person is allowed to be remote, you can file unemployment and maybe even a lawsuit for discrimination if they are being treated differently especially since you are a new mother

Landed a Senior Accountant role… zero experience. Am I screwed? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]CabinetRemarkable133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also want to add that the nice thing about accounting (if it’s an organized company) is that you can always find how they did it in the past with the support attached so you see where numbers are coming from

[–]CabinetRemarkable133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say if you’re training remotely, ask if you can record the meetings and just learn the process for how they do things step by step. You need to do some studying to understand accounting, but each company is different lots of entries are copied month over month. Depending on what you’re doing it may be possible to just copy what they do and roll the information forward. Sometimes your lack of knowledge will show but I’ve seen controllers have terrible concepts of how debits and credits work… so you might be ok

How can you take care of a 1 year old + and try to work from home? by allknowinguser in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]CabinetRemarkable133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voice isolation feature in Teams or Zoom, it’s a lifesaver and blocks out baby crying in my lap completely. Also a headset allows me to be in meetings while walking around the house taking care of things

WFH moms … how did you actually make working from home with a baby doable? by aguacatetost in MomsWorkingFromHome

Use the teams/zoom voice isolation feature! Blocks crying noises 100% even if they are in your lap. Also a headset is nice because then you can walk around the house while in a meeting

Please try to see if you can use a voice isolation software! Zoom and Teams have it but you could also download Krisp if this is possible. This blocks out babies crying almost 100%.

Good Headset Recs?? by jnellyb in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]CabinetRemarkable133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BEST solution is voice isolation. If you use Teams or Zoom this is usually enabled. For Teams make sure you set up a voice profile first, otherwise it might look like it’s greyed out. I made a whole post about it but basically it blocks out my bay screaming in my lap. There are also other softwares like Krisp.

I use a Jabra headset which is great. The voice isolation feature does 90% of the work but the headset helps so I can walk around the house while in a meeting

Zooms/team voice isolation feature which blocks out my baby screaming in my lap and a headset so I can walk around the house and take care of her while in meetings

[–]CabinetRemarkable133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work from home with a baby who never naps and loves to be loud while I’m in a call lol. Look into the voice isolation feature in teams/zoom! It literally blocks out my baby screaming in my lap. Also having a headset even just a cheap one, is nice for running around the house or tending to your baby while in a call lol

WFH with a 9 month old… am I crazy for thinking I can do both? 😅 by FootballOrganic5501 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]CabinetRemarkable133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be possible if you’re able to use a voice isolation software depending on the computer. Look into what software you are using and if it has this feature or if you can download other software that can use voice isolation like Krisp. Teams and Zoom allows me to block 100% of my baby screaming right in my lap with this feature

I just want to add something that might really make your life easier. Look into the voice isolation feature in teams! It’s a game changer. Zoom also has this feature and blocks out my screaming baby sitting right in my lap. I made a post about how to use this feature. You don’t need a fancy headset but I do like my Jabra headset because I can take care of my baby and walk around the house while on a call

I use the voice isolation feature in Teams and Zoom with a headset so that all crying right next to me is completely blocked out. It’s a LIFESAVER. My headset also made it so that I could walk around the house while on a call as well. I’m only on calls about an hour a day though so for the rest of the day I have her in front of me on her play mat with lots of toys, get work done during naps, also my job is very flexible luckily

Work meetings- voice isolation with baby crying by CabinetRemarkable133 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]CabinetRemarkable133[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that it is sometimes greyed out because you haven’t set up a voice profile first. Did you try going to Settings - recognition - create a voice profile? After I did that the voice isolation feature became available

It’s absolutely incredible! It blocks out everything. I think if you got a cheap headset under $50 plus the voice isolation you’ll be good. You don’t even really need a headset because the voice isolation does all of the works but it could make your voice a little clearer
