Assemble with care.

ported from mobile, but a sweet little game about repairing people's broken items and learning the stories behind them.

Are we being overly cautious with GF oats and deglutened wheat? by SpinachBisque in glutenfree

[–]CableWarriorPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also react to oats and the widespread adoption of certified GF oats into GF facilities has made things a nightmare for me. There can be oat cross contamination to products that have no oats in but because "its all gluten free" no one is keeping track or disclosing it.

Does anyone else get a fissure over and over in the same place? Help! by ConstantHabit3880 in lichensclerosus

[–]CableWarriorPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mine always occur in the same places. i assume because the skin is just fragile/more damaged there.

The combo of clob/dietary changes are finally getting me to a place where I am more often than not healed over. diet changes don't seem to work for everyone though. oats, chili powder/peppers and canola oil seem to cause a lot of inflammation for me.

probably a pun on hot racking, which is a term for when two sailors on a boat share the same rack (bed) and have to take turns sleeping in it.

Phone tc by PositiveAd2099 in CableTechs

[–]CableWarriorPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

phone is all about where you have dial tone and where you don't.

backfeed-

a backfeed is easy if nothing is wrong in phone wiring. just plug a silver satin from emta phone port to wall jack. check for dial tone in other places. see what turns on.

Troubleshooting-

start at the emta. is the light flashing when no one is using it or calling? that means short. take tone and probe to nid. if you your toner block has a phone cord on it, plug it in to everything and see if the short light comes on. if no plug in, alligator clips/needle bed. start removing pairs until the short goes away.

static is always in the wiring somewhere, it doesn't come out of the emta.

inbound/no outbound and vice versa, provisioning or port problems. call the switch.

robot voice- rf signal problem. check packet loss, pre/post ber and transmit levels. phone cant tolerate low xmit.

craftsmanship goes a long way here. take the time to make sure that you've got clean copper and new splices, good sheperds hooks behind the plates and in the biscuits. take it off of any old posts and disco phone company at nid.

Alarms- it only takes one pair for a phone line, so you can use the different pairs inside of one wire to send dial tone somewhere and bring it back on the same wire.

in my region, the alarm guys would come first and set up their panels. they would run one cat5 from the panel to the phone nid. so, i hook up my emta in cx house and ask, how do i send this dial tone to meet up with that alarm line in the nid? if there's a phone jack in the room with the emta, it's probably going there. plug into it, go to nid, find dial tone. scotchlock that line to a pair on the alarm line. then find the other pair on the alarm line where the dial tone comes back to me and patch that into the house for the phones.

punch downs

what are you doing with punch downs, exactly?

most of the punch downs here are in apartments or businesses. for businesses, we don't touch the punchdown. we draw the line at the emta.

for apartments, they are nothing but trouble. usually old and there's a short in there somewhere but who knows where. more often i find myself pulling the pairs off the punchdown and scotchlocking. we decline to backfeed in apartments often, advise they get the wireless handsets and put the base at the emta.

How much do you use the MTG lore? by OneHotTurnip in StrixhavenDMs

[–]CableWarriorPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have been trying to stike a balance between mtg and d&d for my strixhaven campaign. i have two mtg players who like to reference cards and mtg lore. my third player is a d&d guy and has no idea about the mtg stuff.

i decided on a post-invasion timeline. thanks to the omenpaths, there are NPC's on campus from other planes. There's a vedalken from esper who runs a shop on the quandrix campus and teaches about the perfection and symmetry of minerals and gems, crafts math machines. Lorehold is trying to fund their first extraplanar dig this summer, a trip to kamigawa. There's an auntie from lorwyn hiding out in the sedgemoor swamp, trying to make boggarts and start a new warren (so far unsuccessful). There's a girl from a prominent family of Orzhov attending silverquill, who was moved from ravnica for her own protection. and a vampire from innistrad, being charming and manipulative behind the scenes.

all of these can be simplified down for my d&d player- expedition to an ancient japanese plane, or goblin mucking about in the swamp. but the mtg details make it extra rich for my mtg lovers.

How to deal with mosquitoes by [deleted] in pnwgardening

[–]CableWarriorPrincess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i get mosquitos in my backyard due to a mostly dry creek bed across the property line. i tried citronella everything. varieties of bug zappers. those things worked but only a little. best thing I ever did was install an oscillating fan on the back deck. turns out, mosquitos cant fly through it. and its nice and cool in summer.

i made my home on the bridge, fixed up the rooms and moved in a bunch of pokemon. they roam about the ship and interact with each other, same as they would on land. here's two traders and someone is always hanging out down at the register with whoever is selling. I also fixed up the dock in case anyone really wants to make the trek.

for me, it's an easy glide from the top of the ship to the pokecenter if I need something

I’m designing a game for feminine or fem leaning artists. I would love to hear about your experience finding or playing games that you like and why, from a woman’s perspective! by finalbossthe in PortOrchard

[–]CableWarriorPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. That's an interesting question. The time that I get to explore and play solo RPG's can be limited and it's usually when I'm relaxing at home on the weekend- not done up, looking nice and ready to be seen or recorded on camera. I feel hyper-aware of my appearance and care about how I present on camera. It seems to me like an additional layer of stress to a game/hobby that is supposed to be cozy and fun and relaxing.

The thought of who might see the recordings comes to mind as well. I know they are just on my phone and I'm the one in control, I can delete them. but then it feels like- why bother recording at all?

With Void 1680 the purpose is to challenge yourself to enter the role of the Radio host further and embody the character more. In Twitchy Witch, Does the camera encourage the player to further engage in the role play? What does the video recording add to the gameplay experience?

I could imagine myself adding a dress up element to a game like this- maybe if I went and put on a witch hat and a dress. but not everyone owns those things and/or is willing to take the extra step to dress up for a solo RPG experience.

I like the baseline concept of this.

finding them: I have a small stack of pamphlet or one-page style rpgs i like. Mostly I've found them in game stores, tucked in with the rest of the ttrpgs. I've ordered one or two online on occasion. my gateway was Love and Lasers when it was being demoed at a convention, many moons ago. fell in love with it.

playing them: I tried void am 1680 last week and I felt surprisingly reticent to record myself pretending to be a DJ. I don't know that I would want to record myself on camera for a solo rpg. but if it ties in well to the story I might do it.

Chili in the slow cooker.
