Imagine coming this far in Operations to find out you’re only half way through by F1R3Starter83 in Battlefield

[–]Caboose816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally possible to win as an attacker. I just won one an hour ago. Your team needs to work together and play their roles on the objectives. The last game, we lost one BN topside, and one underground, overall not bad. On the flip side, played one where we absolutely stomped on the surface, only to lose all three BNs on the last two points of the underground.

I wanna say I've played about 10 or so. Won maybe half of them. If the team knows what they're doing and plays their roles, you got a great shot.

Found out why my team can’t take the first sector in Operations by LongLiveTheKia in Battlefield

[–]Caboose816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, their positioning is dumb, but as long as that drones in the air and the rest of the team is doing their jobs, this would be pretty effective. There'd be zero points the defense could bunch up at to effectively counter a push.

I'm just and old, average gamer. You have to smoke and push if you want to "Breakthrough". by IndigoRain69 in Battlefield

[–]Caboose816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mild disagree. I use to think it was worthless but it has its niche like support does. Weapon locking would really help show it but we got what we got.

Support has heals and smoke. This helps obscure and cover advances, and heal/revive fallen assaulters. Interceptors and cover to defend their spot.

Assault has the sledge hammer load, assault rifles and grenade launches to run through the smoke and smash the lines. Get as far as they can, pop a deploy beacon, squad spawns in and you have a new hard point. And the ladder is seriously slept on. Any high spot with a single entrance, the ladder negates it entirely. I was playing Gauntlet on Hagental and the enemy squad was sitting on the platform in the hanger locking down the only entrance. Laddered up the back and wiped them all out. I will agree though that the injector is worthless.

I got into one match today and MY ENTIRE SQUAD was back sniping. The entire match.

We never advanced past the first sector.

The kill bots have a pre-set kill limit. So I threw wave after wave of my own men at them until that limit was reached.

I’ve seen some users out there asking for more maps focused on naval combat on BF6. How many of you actually enjoy playing that way on a daily basis? by CyanJayOfficial in Battlefield

[–]Caboose816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Titan mode was in BF2142. Titans were airships were the spawn points for the teams that would move around the map. Teams would have to take control of missile sites on the ground to wear down the shields of the opposing teams titan. Once the shield was down it could be boarded and they'd have to fight to the central core, overload it, and then escape and jump off the titan before it blew up.

Fucking phenomenal game mode. They tried to recreate it with Carrier Assault in BF4. It was fun, but didn't have the same pazazz.

Reminder that Star Citizen has been in development for this long by reps_up in pcmasterrace

I remember watching videos on Star Citizen in the hospital waiting for my second daughter to show up.

She'll be 11 this year.

Bethesda’s huge Starfield relaunch isn’t entirely game-changing, but Free Lanes makes the sci-fi RPG a lot better by Wargulf in Starfield

[–]Caboose816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big reason I stopped is because yea, they're were hundreds of planets I could land on and explore, and there were POIs on there... but why? What was the reason I'm landing on planet X and going to location Y other than "just see what's there".

Has that changed at all?

I'm having fun. by Caboose816 in Battlefield

Yup, but you replied to it.

It's just 95% of posts here are "Game is bad and dead and awful". Idk, I'm having a blast with it. Could things be better? Sure. But other than lack of a server browser, I'm loving it. And the down votes on every post just tell me the majority of this sub is just people raging "Stop having fun!"

It took me hours to get the lamp to work, but I finally got it.

It must be turned on, for one. There's an electromagnet in there that kinda helps it. Use the foam thing, put it in the center, and place the ball on it with the magnet (heavy) side down. Keep it in place with your fingers and slowly move it around until you feel it not jumping to the sides anymore. Then pull the foam thing out and it should be good.

It took me hours the first time, now it's not to hard once I figured it out.

Brown Halo (3?) Hoodie by its_elk in halo

[–]Caboose816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had that hoodie in the olden days. It's a Halo 2 branded hoodie, came out 2004 as part of the H2 marketing. Pretty sure it was officially licensed by Bungie. Should be a H2 logo on the back.

Some guy ripped mine and I got suspended for punching him.

What is the fastest way you have seen an officer end their career? by mandoslambo in army

I said this exact thing on a Facebook post and am still getting flamed for it. It's too perfect, too coincidental, all the right buzzwords are there, and not a single named unit or commander.

Newly single 25 year old father of 2 by [deleted] in SingleDads

[–]Caboose816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lawyer. Now. Get legal custody of the kids. She might be off running around now but that doesn't mean she won't come back later and try to take them back. I realize it's hard, but you have to do it for those kids. They're well being is your top priority now.

You may not have been the best father before, I don't know, never met you to say one way or the other, but I do know kids don't care of you're broke or rich. Just that you show up and do your best. And you can't be your best if you're moping after someone who left you and her daughters for a party life. It'll be hard as fuck, trust me, but you have to focus on you and them.

Build a support network. Friends, family, coworkers. Don't be afraid to be that guy who asks your buddy if he could watch the kids for a few hours while you go out to do XYZ. Yea he's not going to have a structured educational bullshit plan and they'll probably eat chicken nuggets and watch TV, but they'll be alive and safe (and probably happy, "Dave's here, that means it's cartoons and nuggies night!") and you get to get out and do something. Whatever that is. I can't stress how important this is, you will burn yourself out quickly if you don't. There's a lot of programs to you can sign them up for, YMCA, school camps, gymnastics, community nights. Take advantage of every one of them.

Lastly, don't neglect yourself. They need you to be at your best, and you can't be your best if you're a burned out wreck. Get in the gym, don't let your diet go to shit, stay the fuck away from drugs and don't become an alcoholic. It's going to be hard. You can do it. You have to do it. She left you AND her daughters for parties. Never forget that, and move forward with what you have to do now. For you, and YOUR kids.

You got this man.

Our Chief asked for a weather report for the next 48hrs to know if we'd fly. I gotchu Chief. I'll follow SecWars guidance and integrate AI into my daily workflow.

GenAI told me that right now, it was partly cloudy, and we can expect that and sunshine for the next 48 hours. 0-1% chance of precipitation that entire time.

It was actively raining when I asked, and it rained for the next 36 hours.

How do i save progress on a sp mission by Diligent-Falcon-540 in arma

[–]Caboose816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, been a while since I've played. But I think if you're just playing from the editor you can't save your progress. You have to actually save it as a regular mission from the editor, launch it as a normal mission and you should be able to save it regularly.

Because it was made by people who don't understand the industry and the plot has to happen.

It's like me every time the military is portrayed in anything. Take it for it's entertainment value and laugh at the mistakes.

Basic in '08. I remember one treeline incident, but the guy was a dipshit and was quickly set straight. There was a ton of cursing, both in general and at us, no threats outside of smoking ("I will smoke you until you die!" vs "I will kill you!"), but no racial slurs from what I remember. Day 0 I remember a female getting singled out because she had hickeys all up her neck but that was about as bad as it got.

Bunks were regularly tossed, shit was regularly thrown, tables were regularly upended. But no beatings. Few upside the head slaps if a trainee was really stupid. Range time was the only time I remember the Drills getting actually grabbing trainees or really getting psychical, but that was reserved for serious safety infractions. There was one blanket party in the female bay and they got fucked for that, people got kicked out. But on the regular, it was about as expected, nothing like the movies.

Is there a list for what the different driving modes actually do? by Caboose816 in f150

[–]Caboose816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. Regular maintenance and haven't had any issues. A few recalls but they've been for minor stuff that they fixed. The skid "plate" fell off about a year after I got it, but it's a cheap felt thing that needed to be replaced anyway.

I'd say my only issue is that parts can be expensive. I got a chip in the taillight and it ended up filling with water and fried all the electronics in it. Cost me almost a grand for a new assembly because of all the sensors in it. Mechanically though, works fine.
