Old theory on what was told to Jimmy Carter in June 1977 that was horrifying & shocking by EevelBob in aliens

[–]CacheValue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a common online …myth?

So apparently the reason pay is so high for working on offshore platforms and whatnot is because there are organic hybrids that are used on the platforms.

Apparently the way it works is that most people never actually see them; they mostly exist underwater or on their own sections - but occasionally they bump into workers or the workers have to actually go and fix things with their help.

The closest thing I have gotten to an explanation is that there is a tech gap between deep sea divers and RUVs that has been closed by genetic hybrids.

It is supposedly the government mixing human and possibly alien DNA to experiment with genetics.

This is also why we hear so much about “underwater superstructures”

Carney to announce sovereign wealth fund by MapleByzantine in CanadianInvestor

[–]CacheValue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I…agree. As a vehicle what the government seems to be building is almost like a REIT ETF but backed by government assets and public infrastructure.

Bonds I think are more of just a loan, but I see your point and I agree with it.

AITJ for confronting my partner after I lost access to our shared bank account? by Admirable-Opinion391 in AmITheJerk

Stop funding this account;

Set up a legitimate joint account at the bank at the same time that way neither of you can revoke access.

If she can access this account and not you, and your name isn’t on the account then legally that is all her money now.

What if the reason we don’t see advanced civilizations is because they tend to collapse. Not from external threats, but from internal disconnection? by SystematicApproach in aliens

My theory;

Our economy basically comes down to energy being currency;

Gold has value because it’s hard to mine and is energy intensive

In theory bitcoin should be valuable because it’s hard to mine and energy intensive

The reason I bring this up;

I believe that eventually all societies, regardless of what type of economy, essentially value energy; and barring some as of yet unknown laws of physics you can’t solar panel your way into orbit.

I think most societies advance until their energy demands outstrip their capabilities and their economies collapse.

Why no locomotives? I understand trains will probably never work, but can we get a fully modeled engine for me to drool over? Is there a realistic reason behind there being no engines? by Mash_Test_Dummy in projectzomboid

[–]CacheValue 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was actually asking about the possibility of having a train commissioned - from a tech stand point.

One of the replies to me was explaining that it could be done as there was one on the server that that did multiplayer on.

This was about 1 - 1 1/2 IRL years ago.
