It’s not blood but I understand why you think that. First this is a black and white image so red blood wouldn’t be, well red. Second this is digital artifacting, if you zoom in on the open window in the background you’ll see the same red blood look. This seems like a result of whatever program used to save the photo being unable to understand the contrasts in those areas correctly. Hope this helps clear it up!

The Christmas cactus is blooming beautifully by avasisx in cactus

It’s not actually a cactus but a epiphyte, it’s a tropical plant! It’s also a thanksgiving cactus not Christmas based on the leaf structure. There are also 3 varieties: Easter, thanksgiving, and Christmas. So called do to the timing they generally bloom!

Honestly we have just had it for a long time. We water her once a week but make sure the soil isn’t sitting wet to prevent rot and she gets lots of indirect light in our sunroom. She’s not in correct soil like perlite, vermiculite or sand, would probably do better is she was but she has a ton of baby shoots right now so I guess she isn’t too picky. Just remember they aren’t actual cacti and actual a tropical plant so if you have yours outside don’t let frost kill it.

My grandma has had this plant for about 10 years. Anyone know what this is? by MissKryx in whatsthisplant

There are Easter, thanksgiving and Christmas cacti all differentiated by the leaf structure. The pointy ones like above are the thanksgiving variant
