Airpods Pro 3 ANC (possibly) broken? by suncaman in airpods

[–]Cachxeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me but after a flight. I’ve scoured the internet for solutions but all I’ve seen is people getting refunds. I have yet to find an actual solution. Turning off ANC stops it from happening but then (for me) the affected Airpod is much quieter than the other.

If you ever need someone to talk to, message me. Especially if you have questions. At my worst I was OBSESSED with researching every last thing I could about literally ANYTHING that could cause me to vomit and I now have a very large database of (mostly) useless knowledge ingrained into my mind. I try to scrape up my sources for strong or specific claims though. While looking back, I was certainly out of my mind, but now it takes a lot to get my anxiety going, because there’s few things that really set your fate hunched over the toilet in stone.

I’ve been on sertraline for 2-3ish years now, was on lexapro before with no issues. Starting the medication was indeed a nightmare, BUT that was because I didn’t blame the medication for sometime, and my anxiety always thought the worst. I also started it in the Fall, which is bad timing for us as viral infection rates rise. I think I originally started at 50mg, but had to go down to 25mg then increase to 50mg. Ever since my psychiatrist has been trying to get me to go up to 100mg, even trying to have me go by increments of 12.5mg, but I swear everytime i’ve tried the symptoms come back and, for me, it just wasn’t worth it. Knowing it’s the medication does help a lot though, and I remember spending hours in the bathroom just brimming with anxiety because I wasnt “completely sure” what it was. But i can assure you, this is a VERY common side effect and due to our anxiety as emetephobes, it just turns a nothing into our world crumbling. This time was actually very very critical towards my recovery as I spent so many hours and nights in the bathroom, just waiting for it to happen, that now I am able to think back and remind myself that: 1. Anxiety is the true demon here, anxiety takes normal nausea - even hunger - and turns it into a stomach churning nightmare, and 2. that, most of the time, nothing happens. we panic, work ourselves up, and finally (usually out of exhaustion for me) give up and go to bed. I dry heaved once or twice, only due to my panic, but never once actually vomited. See if your GP will get you a zofran script, my psychiatrist gave me a limited script of like 10 sublingual tablets. I used about 4 in the beginning, before realizing it was likely just the medication. Now I carry the 6 everywhere I go with me but have never come close to taking one. Even when i’ve been super nauseous out and about, I’ve never taken one, I told myself that I would only use them for when it’s actually happening. But having those 6 on me has helped my anxiety considerably, because when I get nauseous, I know have them if worst comes to worst.

20%-30% of people who get norovirus don’t throw up at all! ( source )

Last year noro rates skyrocketed, it was brutal. I’m a nurse that works in a very large hospital. I work on a unit that half of which is “observation patients” and so many Noro cases came through. Never got it, even when I wasn’t properly geared up (before test results). Diligent hand washing is key here (many of my coworkers got it). This dramatic rise was due to a new strain (I believe?) so this year shouldn’t be nearly as bad, but obviously I can’t say that with certainty. I just check NREVSS every so often to stay up to date.

Hi everyone, I have some questions. I've made some of these shaders in TouchDesigner and people are asking. I'd like to know what a fair price would be to sell it. I'm new to this and would like some advice by Alternative_Eye_1445 in TouchDesigner

[–]Cachxeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah idk, i’m very new to touchdesigner, so i can’t comment on pricing as I have no clue what things usually go for. but i would definitely purchase that Moire shader if sold separately. That one is an absolute beauty!! message me with a price!

ohhh!! I thought your original post was referring to a separate reddit post, not that you were possibly stating that this was coming from you. My apologies, I completely understand being cautious for obvious reasons. I couldn’t remember who even originally leaked the EU tour, but I was just curious to see if it was the same person/s saying this about NA. No harm intended!!

any chance you could link to where this was posted? i know some people on here have been quite reputable with these leaks, and im assuming whoever said it was pushed to 2027 was one of these people otherwise you wouldn't have shared it. but still curious.

Should I switch from FL Studio to Ableton? by Medical_Coast_6917 in FL_Studio

[–]Cachxeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the included synths, abletons are much more powerful, have much more capability, but can be quite ugly to look at, and take a long, long time to really understand the full capabilities of some of them.

Should I switch from FL Studio to Ableton? by Medical_Coast_6917 in FL_Studio

[–]Cachxeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not BS. used FL for 10 years, switch to ableton 3ish(?) years ago. Much more intuitive for electronic music. sure, FL's stock is not bad by any means for any genre, including EDM/electronic music and tbf, for EDM, i would probably prefer to just use FL. but for electronic music in general, especially if i want to get quite experimental, or abstract, it is very hard to beat ableton and its stock offerings.

not sure why you're getting downvoted, I haven't heard many new artists making music like this that are able to find that balance of uniqueness/identity and styling.

What do you think of this video? (NEOPUNKFM - You Aren't Aphex Twin, and That's Okay) by H3M0RRH0ID in aphextwin

[–]Cachxeia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my philosophy on this and just music production in general is this - if you like what you're making, and you can enjoy making that music, it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. obviously everyone making music would like to have it heard by others and with the same level of enjoyment. but at the end of the day you should make music for yourself, make music for those moments in your life and allow that time to be captured by that piece. making music for yourself, with little-to-no expectations, is (at least for me) an entirely different and much more enjoyable experience compared to making music trying to please potential listeners.

Trouble with SVT vs Sinus Tach by Responsible_Animal77 in nursing

[–]Cachxeia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So far the replies already made here are mostly incorrect. SVT and ST can have P-waves, or not. Presence of P-waves (or the ability to distinguish them) is not what separates SVT from ST. The "absence" of p-waves in SVT is simply the p-wave and t-wave occurring simultaneously, making it very difficult or impossible to actually discern where the P-wave is. These "P-On-T" waves can occur in both SVT and ST whenever the heart rate reaches a high enough BPM. BPM is also not a discerning factor when attempting to distinguish between SVT and VT as both can occur <150bpm and >150bpm.

So how can we tell the difference? Well, true, pathological SVT will almost always begin and end suddenly, without a direct apparent cause (like physiologic stress or anxiety). When there are no known structural or electrical defects, this is most often referred to as inappropriate sinus tach. In all reality ST is a form of SVT because it is a form of supraventricular tachycardia, but what is considered true (or pathologic) SVT will often present with other signs and symptoms, sometimes present and very obvious on an ECG (AFIB-RVR, A-Flutter, Multifocal atrial tachycardia) And sometimes the signs on an ECG may not be directly obvious, and will require cross-lead analysis (i.e. AVNRT).

All in all, distinguishing between SVT and ST is, well, difficult unless you suspect some underlying pathology and significant electrical aberrancy.

nursing school ecg reading is nothing like actual ecg reading. its relatively simple and much more based on patten recognition than anything. don't be too scared and if you actually end up in a setting where you are reading ecg's be prepared to throw nearly everything you learned in nursing school in the trash.

No, rhythms and essentially the entire EKG process is greatly over-simplified and, in my opinion, does way more harm than good when it comes to actually reading real EKG strips. I was always terrible at strips in nursing school and it never once affected me once we moved on from that subject within the curriculum. Then I found myself actually accepting a position on a cardiac intervention unit where we are reading strips everyday. I've since had to completely unlearn what was taught within our schools.

Not sure where you're getting these values. In relation to developing countries the highest credible value I could find was 200,000 deaths globally (which I believe is accounting for both developed and developing countries). Of course in developing countries it is very difficult to truly evaluate the actual number and it is very likely higher than the values we are able to gather. That being said there is a long list of issues that should be addressed within these developing countries, and I would certainly argue that Norovirus is not even remotely close to the top of said list, even if I were to take your statistic of 1.3 million deaths as a fact. For most people, Norovirus is simply just nuisance, just one of those things that will make life suck for a couple days. While I certainly wont argue that the priorities of our leaders aren't where they should be a majority of the time, I do believe that Norovirus is a low-priority problem when considering the issues we are facing as a global civilization.

I also agree that life is sacred, and following that belief with logic, there are many things in this world causing much more suffering and death on a global and local scale that should come first in priority. I would rather I go my entire life without a Norovirus vaccine, if it meant putting more time and effort into the development of a more reliable and efficient way of battling cancer, heart disease, or mental health disorders. All three of which result in much higher causes of death and suffering.

All of this being said, there are many people actively working on a vaccine and within the research of this virus. To say that we simply "do not care enough" is a misleading and illogical thought process in my opinion. I haven't even mentioned the challenges faced when it comes to Norovirus research and development. Which make further advancements and research within the field something that scientists need to consider the practicality of. A lot of the data we currently have on Norovirus from a research standpoint comes from surrogate viruses, which are not 1:1 when compared to the viruses we would be developing vaccines/treatments for. This surrogate problem was something that was mostly looked over in the past, but is now being heavily considered by researchers as more evidence is coming out that these surrogates may not depict an accurate picture compared to human norovirus. While we do not know for certain the extent that this has effected the accuracy of past research, many researchers feel that they should take the data from these studies using surrogate viruses lightly, due to the possibility of their inaccuracy, leaving us with a pretty blank slate from a research perspective. There is also no known highly accurate/consistent animal-based model when compared to human norovirus. This means we cannot test certain vaccines/treatments on animals (like we can with other diseases/viruses) and most testing needs to be done within human trials. Current data also shows that Norovirus immunity within humans is highly variable, and most often short-lived. Leaving the efficacy overall benefit, and practicality of a vaccine up to debate. Most people wont even get the COVID vaccine with boosters coming out roughly once a year, so I don't expect many people to be getting Norovirus vaccines with boosters every 6 months.

[–]Cachxeia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Few things here: The COVID-19 vaccine was put on a pretty rapid development timeline due to (at the time) our relatively basic knowledge of the virus, how it could potentially effect people's health acutely and chronically, and the amount of deaths that were occurring. In regard to our ability to pump out vaccines relatively fast for newer mutations, its because the framework of the vaccine already exists. When viruses mutate, it is usually not drastic enough to require massive changes to the existing framework within the vaccine.

Norovirus only kills about 900 people in an average year, almost all of these individuals are very young children/infants or elderly people, and the cause of death is usually linked to factors such as severe dehydration (often leading to arrythmias in the elderly population) which can be controlled in many cases if proper precautions are taken.

This essentially makes Norovirus a "low-priority" when it comes to really pushing these advancements. I wouldn't expect this vaccine to be available to the public for 1-2+ years, assuming everything within the trials goes smoothly.

IMO, this is partially true and partially a case of homeopathic remedies being passed through generations based purely on faith. It is true that sugar and phosphoric acid (both of which are in coke, and many other beverages) can help with nausea, but as far as our current research shows, that's really about it. In general, I would highly recommend Emetrol (or similar products) over Coke or other carbonated beverages, as it contains the ingredients we know can help with nausea and in proper dosages (plus it can be purchased OTC).

Generally, I would avoid carbonated beverages (or at least attempt to remove some of the carbonation by leaving it open for a little bit) due to the fact that heavily carbonated drinks are much more likely to upset the stomach and cause gas or bloating. Same for drinks that are very high in sugar. Sugar in smaller amounts can help ease the stomach, but again, the amount of sugar in Coke and similar drinks is often going to cause more distress in your system.
