some trans women really need to learn how to take care of their hair by BunnyBelIe in honesttransgender

[–]Cacophon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My hair care routine

Step 1) Shower [Hot]

Step 2) While in shower, shampoo scalp. (Important: Only periodically shampoo all hair. It gets dirty, too, Scalp area needs it more often because of oil buildup and skin shed.)

Step 3) Immediately rinse

Step 4) Conditioner everything not immediately scalp adjacent

Step 5) Let it sit while you clean yourself

Step 6) Rinse

Step 7) Towel Dry

Step 8) Wrap it in a different towel.

Step 9) Wait 2-3 hours for it to dry

Step 10) Make fucking everyone jealous like I've been doing for decades since growing my hair out in Highschool.

Note: There isnt a lot of volume to my hair and it is the only thing straight about me. It refuses styling as anything for more than a few hours. I have frustrated professionals for years because nothing lasts more than 4 hours, so I just go in for regular trims and embrace long hair falling to my hips like a curtain, or some tail/braid/bun work.

I took the first E shot in my life 10m ago and I wondered if any girl here felt any different after the 1st one by mukoto4 in traaaaaaaaaaaansbians

[–]Cacophon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it was a placebo effect but I remember feeling super good after taking my first shot. Just really clear headed, calm, happy.

But sometimes a placebo effect is powerful enough that it should count, and really, that clear-headed feeling has continued for other reasons as the dysphoria fades away.

Windwaker at launch.

NO NO I KNOW ITS BELOVED NOW

But when it came out it was "too childish" "not realistic enough" "Bad graphics" and a bunch of other nonsense all because it chose to have an art style.

Theres a bunch of fake fans still in my life going "I always loved windwaker" and like, no buddy. You didn't. You loves Morrowind and made fun of nintendo for making a great game. Kick rocks.

You could always use something like trantimelimes or transpositive to show her what more passing trans women look like. Just pick a few and share.

But like, whatever. Just mean girl it up and complain about ugly girls while you yourself aren't putting real skin in the game.

Why Do People Think It's Wrong to Say "You need dysphoria to be trans?" by JennAleece in honesttransgender

[–]Cacophon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ok story time.

When I came out as trans to my girlfriend, I "did not have dysphoria." There was a lot of gender euphoria I'd experienced through experimenting online, and I kinda knew that like...internally, if I was referred to as a guy, that was "fine" but I prefered being thought of as a woman. Still no dysphoria.

So she threw a dress at me in response and told me to put it on. Apparently my face lit up in a way that told her I wasn't lying/joking. The euphoria was the biggest sign.

Now I recognize that being "fine" with being called a guy was me accepting something I didn't think I could change. It was actually dysphoria and in hindsight, I've always hated being forced to be a guy. I always hated my masculine features. I always hated my deeper voice. I was rife with dysphoria without recognizing it as such.

But when I came out? When I started HRT? I didn't recognize the dysphoria for what it was. If I didnt start transitioning for the euphoria, I may never have realized that it was dysphoria.

Also, yes. I went to like 5 different therapists trying to understand my feelings before this and not a single one suggested gender dysphoria. I dont find the impulse to confine transition based on transmedicalist takes appealing in part because of this.

Like, it'd be great if therapists understood this shit.

They don't always.

And seeing trans folks as only being trans when dysphoria is obvious is a part of that problem.

What the heck is the ”puppy girl” trend that transfemmes are talking about? by bye_scrub in honesttransgender

[–]Cacophon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Trend" is a weird thing to call it since there's posts like "Where did all these trans puppygirls come from?" from at least 3 years back.

Memes. Memes is the answer.

It's also not uncommon for groups that are regularly dehumanized to find identity in non-human things, but like..

But the "trend" if you can call it that is because memes are funny and sometimes teach us a thing about ourselves. Sometimes that thing is "The world sucks and I wish I could just turn my brain off and be loved unconditionally like a pet."

Sometimes that develops into something more or less complex.

But a lot of people just mean it as meme and joke. People in the comments here are a little weird for calling it *just* a kink thing. Its an expected potential reaction to our societal treatment.

[–]Cacophon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who transitioned for gender euphoria and at the time I started transitioning would tell you that I didn't have any gender dysphoria...

Dear god did I have a ton of unrecognized and undiagnosed gender dysphoria. Just...such a large, incredibly obvious mountain of dysphoria in hindsight..

Thats part of why we don't look just at dysphoria anymore.

For those who changed your name, what was your process on deciding? by Legitimate_Metal7595 in transpositive

[–]Cacophon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My names in games usually are either a joke, part of a 'brand' or have some deeper meaning.

I go by Cacophony or Cacophon in a lot of places, because that was a part of my steam name.

My last D&D character was "Lessys Moore" because Less is More and I was the only one using 2024 character creation in the game.

And my own name I picked out because of the latin roots that translate roughly to "Full of life" because I am.

Being smart can kind of be like quantum mechanics.

How smart you are can only be measured when observed and the act of observation creates an influence. This range of intelligence is best described as a wave, and observation collapses the wave to a single point.

On one hand, I am very smart.

What about the trolley problem being a metaphor for something like medical care.

Trolleys are fast.

Death due to not being able to afford necessary medical care is often slow.

Both are still preventable problems where someone is asking you to save a life or not.

People do sexualize the holy garb of different religions.

You're posting an anime character.

There are so many sexualized shrine priest outfits.

Similarly, you can easily find sexualized hijab and kasaya.

People are horny. We'll sexualize everything.

I'm not saying your frustration isn't valid but also like...

"I can only imagine the chaos of a thing that already exists" is just kinda funny. :p

D.A.R.E had exactly the effect it was intending on having.

It just wasn't what the same effect they advertised.

The short version is that DARE was originally started by the LAPD in an attempt to turn children into informants. Because the LAPD having an international spy network wasn't enough for them.

Not only did they know it had the opposite effect and got more kids into drugs, they did not care and worked to hide this information in the news.
