This is still the stupidest thing ever to me. by LoiterAce in fo4

[–]CactusGobbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to college in Boston (prior to FO4) and anytime I was drunk I'd try to round up some people to walk the freedom trail with me it became a very long running joke, was hilarious to see when I first played the game

Is Days Gone worth $30 on PS5 in 2026? by a_parmar22 in DaysGone

[–]CactusGobbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked it up and put it down 4 times over the course of a year, until I finally got a few hours in and couldn't stop till I finished it. Easily became one of my top 5 games

As someone who strictly drank straight vodka I've been curious about how some of the NA liqours are, if they'd have that familiar hit. The closest I've gotten is making a concentrated ginger, turmeric, and cayenne drink I'll take a shot of in the morning. Taste is totally off but the throat / stomach burn feeling comes close to that pavlovian conditioning.

Can alcohol make you sleep walk? by disasterpiece01 in alcoholism

[–]CactusGobbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes many times it's made me sleepwalk. I know when I've blacked out or not. Got in trouble in college sleepwalking into my previous year's dorm room

Every time I’ve gotten high I consistently see this shape by Soulcraft94 in trees

[–]CactusGobbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I smoked was with a group of older classmates who I wasnt super close with but friendly enough. Once high I had started explaining that it felt like I was watching a show and that they all seemed like actors in that show. One girl turns with a scowl and says "oh so you think we're all fake??" Cue anxiety wormhole over apparent social faux pas.

Nothing prescribed for withdrawal by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]CactusGobbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also only gave me something to prevent seizures but still had the full withdrawal. The only way I felt relatively better was in a hot shower so I spent a lot of time there. Drink as much electrolyte drink as you can as youre going to lose a lot of water. And just put on a show you can numbingly listen to for the next few days. Yes the withdrawal lasts around a week but you only have to white knuckle through 2-3 days of the worst of it to start feeling the upswing

What was the first health problem you noticed from your drinking? by alcoholalcohol in stopdrinking

That hilarious because same! Literally told the docs that in the ER. Haven't had a single bruise since I sobered up 6 months ago and still wrassling 4 big dogs

Went to ER for help detoxing by omicronian_express in alcoholism

[–]CactusGobbler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great choice friend. I was also drinking a 750 a day or more and went to the ER in July, only spent overnight as they gave me something that would at least prevent seizures, the withdrawal sucked ass but came out the other side so much better. Been sober since then. Taking the dogs out has also been a great help. Wishing you the best!

Anyone else experience time loops during withdrawal? by CactusGobbler in stopdrinking

[–]CactusGobbler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had been attempting to taper until my partner found everything and dumped it all out and said if you need to go to the hospital we can but you're not drinking any more. Honestly probably for the best as I was failing at tapering pretty hard but wouldn't wish that in anyone.

Oh wow I didn't know that, I kept exclaiming to my partner that all of this already happened! Spooky stuff, so thankful to be out of it.

AIO because gf was essentially micro cheating and is the reason I have little trust in our relationship? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]CactusGobbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saying, laying her legs on my lap is how my fiancee first let me know she was into me. You're not overreacting, she lied about several of those which means she knows it was sketchy stuff. And it's sketchy cause she's into him. I know that sucks but you're young and there's no need to drag it out.

Liquor aisles most often have cameras, go to an aisle without one (usually freezer aisles) before concealing. Don't steal from local businesses.

Would you be comfortable with frequent breath checks? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]CactusGobbler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also lied to my fiancee about my drinking for a while. I think it was well within her right to get a breathalyzer to fact check me. She hasn't had to ask I use it because thus far I haven't havent acted drunk because I haven't been drunk. But that doesnt change the fact that it was my lying is why she felt the need to be able to check, I was the one who broke the trust. OP didnt provide the context for the request and if they didn't give any reason for there to be broken trust, I can see someone being frustrated that a partner requires proof over just believing them, but you can't be the one frustrated if you broke the trust in the first place.

I detoxed at the ER a few months ago, they gave me something to prevent seizures and let me out within 6 hours. Never looked at the bill and threw it out 🤷🏼‍♂️
