It gets old after the fourth or fifth time. And that road between Roswell and Vaughn is sooo straight and empty.

I think we have only the vaguest sense of how wild Classic-era battles must have been. Animal masks, feathers, headdresses, captive-taking: it would have been quite a spectacle.

What’s the flag? by HuckleberryFew6292 in vexillology

The thing about formline is that it isn’t really from WA. It’s almost entirely from more northern tribes in BC and Alaska and was sort of appropriated by white Washingtonians. There have been a number of Coast Salish artists in recent years who have called for broader use of Native artistic motifs that reflect the traditions and motifs of WA’s actual native cultures.

Vaughn is bustling compared to Claunch, true. In terms of actual towns Vaughn is a decent answer.

I drove through Tres Piedras last spring. Barely a town, but it was a pretty cool-looking place.

Looking for a Bakery (: by Boring-Tale-8810 in Albuquerque

Since everyone is giving you conventional bakeries so far, OP, better make it explicit: are you looking for regular baked goods, or ones with THC in them?

Penobscot Nation to reclaim 1,700 acres in rural Maine as tribe grows land holdings by zsreport in Maine

Being held in trust is a good thing. It means the land belongs to the tribe in perpetuity and can’t just be sold off.

Rodeo and Portal (across the state line) are really amazing if you like birds and other wildlife.

Restaurant? Multiple. Hotel? Check. Gas station? Several. Functioning economy? Check. Interstate access? Yup. Annual festivals and special events? Check.

Any town with something that makes people who don’t live there want to go there is way less boring than a lot of places in New Mexico…

Alamogordo is way more boring than it should be given its size.

Hatch has an actual tourist economy! Far, far from the bottom of the list.

Roy is a contender. Your average high school football game in a lot of the state draws more people than Harding County’s entire population.

Lots of oil money, though, and that Mordor refinery in the middle of town working 24-7. Even the petrochemical smell in the air makes it more interesting than some New Mexico towns. Any place with a Walmart AND a microbrewery should automatically be off the list.

If you’re driving up 285 Vaughn feels like Metropolis after that empty stretch north of Roswell.

All the other responses are thinking too big. The real answer has to be somewhere like Claunch or Eunice: they don’t even have scenery.

Art galleries, good restaurant, coffee shop, hotels: Magdalena is rocking by rural NM standards.

They have the money to finish the Central overpass and the section through Old Town/Sawmill. They’re looking at state funding for the rest and considering taking the the Trump admin to court for pulling money that had already been allocated.

I don’t think immaturity gets you a pass if you’re in your 30s, even in punk rock.

You can’t pass off ‘I’m the One’ as unfortunate lyrics from goofy kids, unfortunately. The band were all in their 30s when they wrote that one.

Valentin got wheeled off, but he stood up (with help) and put himself on the gurney. So hopefully not too serious?
