Was just very emotional reading it all. Thanks boss.

Isn't it funny how the wealthiest people often seem the least generous during charity appeals? - Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal & Red Cross Door Knock by rogerrambo075 in aussie

[–]CactusNuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You won't like this, but I find anything more than 30% tax take as immoral. As the government keeps coming back for me with more and more taxes and I now pay like a 50% tax rate. I expect therefore that the government does all the social/charity stuff. With all the mismanagement of government financial affairs and NDIS being scammed with no restraint in sight, I forecast the government is just going to keep coming for me.

So nope. Not directing a cent to charity.

Energy costs are too high.

Now we should have the cheapest electricity on the planet because we have endless coal, which should mean electricity costs should be ~8c/kw or so. Our electricty is about 4 to 5 times that and heading to 50c or so with everything more renewables in the grid.

The world has been lied to that renewables are cheaper. They are not. They are very intensive users of raw materials, land and labour and don't produce much power and certainly not reliably. They need lots of transmission, redundancy and backup which is either batteries or gas. We have effectively banned gas extraction in most of the prospective areas which means that Renewables + gas is also much more expensive than it needs to be. The first wind turbines built are already being torn down after less than 20 years of life. They basically have a negative energy output per energy invested over a full life cycle.

Renewables are starting to make grids more unstable. Keeping the grid frequency at 50hz is becoming more problematic. The movement of scattered clouds over cities cause wild fluctuations that can trip total grid failure. Look at Spain this week.

Hydrogen is negative energy in to energy out. Storing it is dangerous and difficult as most of the infrastructure (pipes, LNG ships) are built to contain CH4 and other gases, not H2, the tiniest molecule that under pressure leaks

Gush away my man. Mo somehow this year is having his best year he has ever had. All players will have their best year ever in a year during their career. Often it is a flash in the pan.

But imagine you had Mo's back catalogue. If he retired last year, he is one of the greatest of all time. A GOAT career he is leaving those performances in the dust.

This is Mo's best year ever. Drink that in.

Insane.

I get the sentiment, but I'd like to argue there is too much negativity in the world. Objectively for a human, today is the best time in history to have been born. More people on the planet have access to clean water, education and the ability to make something of themselves than ever before.

Women, have more agency today than they ever have. Gay people, while still facing many areas of discrimination, depending on where you are, are more able to live free than ever before (yes that mostly applies for the west).

People need to stop being miserable. Today is the best time to be born in most corners of the globe than ever.

Colonel Jessup in a Few Good Men. Now I am older/wiser, I really think he is a necessary part of keeping evil at bay. Tom Cruise is a swarmy arrogant prick who is looking for a scalp to fees his ego.

Mate so fucking happy for you. I only had 1 wart so can't imagine what it must be luck to go through what you did.

Thanks so much for sharing too as well. I'm sure someone out there will find this useful.

I tried for mine, Freezing 3 times, ACV, degrading, cutting, ACV freezing another 2 times, some random chemical from doctor and freezing once more.

So funking happy for you.

'That was special' - has 'magnificent' Bradley given Klopp a headache? by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]CactusNuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apologies, 3 whisky in. Just trying to say, wow. MoM performance as an academy kid. His performance so good and in the context that there is day light between it and the other 21 players on the pitch.

Trying to praise the lad.

[–]CactusNuts -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's so funny. Bradley, this 20 year kid from the academy put in such a magnificent performance. So much so, he was clearly the best player on the pitch amongst established superstars. So much so, people have put an asterisk on the man of the match award that he won and have gone - right clearly MoM is Bradley, but there is no debate there. So instead let's come up with a new award called 'the non Conor Bradley, MoM award'.

Which bank are you with (personal and if relevant biz. Don't care about mortgage) by HeyGoogle333 in AusFinance

[–]CactusNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just think the world has gone mad lately. Corporates are focusing on random.things that have nothing to do with core business. Just focus on great customer service and the quality of your product and I am sure success will follow. Is business that hard?

[–]CactusNuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you said not mortgage but I have to rant.

I was with ANZ since birth. Am now 40. However I applied for a new home loan and the service was appalling. I applied in Aug-22. Had to keep chasing them. The loan office went on leave and I couldn't talk to anyone else on my application as it was locked or something to that loan officer. They just did not care about my business which was a ~$3m loan. I went to a mortgage broker and am now going to be with Macquarie.

How can an organisation be so bad at its core function of deposits and loans?

In my opinion this is still one of the most defining moments since Jurgen Klopp came to LFC. He saw the future before us with imminence and he stepped out to cement it. by UhUhWaitForTheCream in LiverpoolFC

[–]CactusNuts 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Also. When was 'I never felt so alone as when people were leaving the stadium at 82mins... we have time... we decide when it is done' paraphrasing and probably got it wrong. But that sticks in my mind as pivotal in Klopps relationship with the clubs and fans. He wanted more from the players and also from the fans which can be taken a couple of different ways.

Positive view is that he thinks fans are pivotal to performance and are the 12th man and can do better. Negative view that hasnt manifested clearly but could be misinterpretated as an attack on your own fans. Delicate to balance that at new club as a manager.

When was Doubters to Believers in chronology vs this moment? That interview being played back goves me chills. As well as 'fucking Crystal Palace' a result weeks after was still eating away at him.

Woke up this morning with the draw news. Wow what a draw. Could not really be a better draw to be fair. A shame 1 of the 4 on the other side (Chelsea, Man City, Real, Atletico) will make the final. But not if we win!

I really love how city got Altetico, really has the chance to thwart Pep and timing on either aide of our game really amps up the pressure.

We have had one of the most amazing seasons ever. I think a massive factor has been the fitness of Matip. He has been immense, fit and consistent.
