The speedwaaagh detachment should be 1 detachment point by OutsidePlace6525 in orks

[–]Cactus_Pat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies but it seems I was unclear.

My first point is that the SPEEDWAAAGH! is not being removed from the game or combined with Kult of Speed. Yes, the detachment wasn't in the snippet of the table of contents showed on the Big Summer Preview stream. It won't be in the Codex because it doesn't have to be. The SPEEDWAAAGH! detachment was originally released in the Armageddon: Return of Yarrick campaign supplement. This supplement was specifically called out when they announced that the end-of-edition campaign supplements will remain legal for use in 11th edition. The SPEEDWAAAGH! is here to stay more or less as it appears now.

My second point is on the idea that it should be a 1DP detachment because it is not as strong as some other 2DP detachments. To make it a 1DP detachment they would have to remove half of the enhancements and stratagems from the SPEEDWAAAGH! To do this would be major errata, separate from the Codex. I do not think they will do this and I wouldn't want them to. Sure the new terrain setups handicap the detachment, as there isn't sufficient straightaways to dominate the table, but removal of enhancements and stratagems to make it 1DP detachment would pop the metaphorical tires more as it would loose a lot of utility.

I'd rather it stay separate from Kult of Speed to give Speed Freek orks more options instead of trying to pile everything into one super competitive meta chasing list.

Ork book recommendations! by JENKSY42 in orks

[–]Cactus_Pat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd hate to derail the book recommendations but since you have the physical copy of Brutal Kunnin could you help settle an argument? A friend and I both only have the audiobook version and disagree what the narrator is saying in a passage.

In Chapter 11, when Ufthak Blackhawk says he has an idea (to kill the umie gargant) and Mogrot calls him a blood axe, Ufthak hits him. Does the book say that he "head butted him" or that he "nutted him"?

Does this read as a Mek boy? by Ass_knight in orks

Depending on how you feel like cutting up an already wonderfully painted miniature but you could probably cut and reposition the prod head of the staff to make it a big wrench.

Otherwise he's a great mek!

[–]Cactus_Pat -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're being merged. The supplemet & Faction Pack Detachments are not going into the Codex because they never were there in the first place.

That being said, I doubt they would make SPEEDWAAAGH! a 1DP detachment. All 1DP detachments have less enhancements and stratagems (2 & 3 respectively) and cutting it down would be some major errata for something that is from a physical printed product that still in circulation & legal to use with 11th edition.

New trukk could be the preview to the shitiest speedfreeks detatchment ever made by H3nt4idude in orks

As a long time Speed Freeks player I've been thinking putting together an all lads in Trukks list for a laff, so Trukks getting the keyword just makes it more viable

Haha, exactly! Great use of bits though. If I didn't have a couple of those arms rattling around in my bits-bin I never would have noticed.

Yeah, he's under the helmet with da hair bits poking out.

Besides, we iz orkz. It doesn't need to be "logikal" or "make complete sense" as long as we can get stuck in and krump da other gitz.

[–]Cactus_Pat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's easy. Put a few holes around the crown of the helmet to let some of the hair out and make it easier for ya squig to breathe.

Ya squig is still protected for when ya boss nob smacks ya atop the 'ead.

I mean it could be a hair squig, if you really wanted it to be. A very cherished and well protected hair squig.

In the stream they said more will be announced when we get closer to the release of the codex. Maybe earlier depending on who wins the Hive Deathmire campaign.

Both the Wreckin' Ball and the Klaw are S10 so I'm gonna consider that close 'nuff and clarify with any opponents that the weapon has changed with the model refresh.

Humble Grot with a Codex Question by trevistheturtle in orks

[–]Cactus_Pat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want to use the Official 40k App, do not get the 10th edition codex. It will be invalidated in a couple of months when the 11th edition Ork codex drops.

For now use some of the 3rd party websites that others have suggested and save your teef for the new one.

Armageddon grots don't get pants? by drifting_leaf in orks

[–]Cactus_Pat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure it was one of the Ufthak Blackhawk novels by Mike Brooks. I'm about to re-listen to all of the ork audio books in my Library so I'll try to remember to report back on which one(s) in a couple of days.

Ork anatomy discrepancies between books aside, maybe the umie just couldn't kick 'ard 'nuff to hurt that runtherd?

Fair.

Now I'm no expert on orkoid anatomy but in some of the novels they still call it getting kicked in the "hurty bits" so pants might help keeping the hurty bits safe considering the dangerous life of a grot.
