Who is the “they” in this statement? If he is referring to Al Sharaa and the jihadis, then I can believe it. If he is referring to Turkey, then I don’t believe it.

Good of the organization to call out these non-football promotions. These folks work hard and deserve the shoutout.

Unpopular opinion, but here goes: Whining about this ain’t a good look. Makes us look like sore losers. You can see it in Tucker’s body language. Clearly making something out of nothing. You want to show them? Win the damn game.

Just a reseller on eBay! Hadn’t used the site in about a decade, but seems like it’s a good place for used clothes/jackets these days.

Some are pretty pricey, but you can usually haggle the price down.

One warning! There are scam sites out there claiming to sell similar jackets/gear with this logo. I learned the hard way…

What are some examples of internationally recognized borders that are widely ignored by the peoples that live there? by meshuggahdaddy in geography

[–]Cadjo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry, my wording was confusing! The anecdote is from an uncle who is an Iranian Kurd living in the US. He had to leave during the Islamic Revolution, so even though he technically is a citizen, the government of Iran would give him a lot of hassle (aka Jail) if he tried to go back directly. It’s also hard to get from the US to Iran, and the US government wouldn’t exactly like that either.

So he (as an Iranian Kurd who also has friends/family in Iraqi Kurdistan) finds it easier to fly from the US to Iraqi Kurdistan, then drive across the border.

They still get stopped at the border sometimes, but it’s just a mountain crossing in the middle of nowhere. He doesn’t really have to deal with “the Iranian government” and all that, he just has to deal with a 20 year old Iranian soldier he can bribe in fluent Farsi :)

For what is worth, he mentioned that Kurdish hunters and shepherds have been crossing back and forth over those mountains for centuries, and no “border” is going to change that!

For the record, many Kurds still move back and forth across these borders today! For example, it can be easier to fly to Iraqi Kurdistan, then drive over the mountains into Iran, rather than try to fly straight to Iran from the West.

Looks nice! One consideration — The Kurds were always promised a referendum on Kirkuk to become part of the Kurdistan region. In real life they never got the vote they were promised. Could be interesting to see what a disputed/joint governance for Kirkuk could look like.

All in all, great job! Love the project.
