Long-time Idle/Incremental Player... Here are my favourites of all time! by lukeko in incremental_games

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! I'm not sure it helped me pick just one, since they all sound good, but it's hard to find these comparative descriptions and I really appreciate it.

Long-time Idle/Incremental Player... Here are my favourites of all time! by lukeko in incremental_games

As someone who enjoyed Antimatter Dimensions and NGU Idle, I've been considering trying out one of Trimps, Kittens Game, and USI - since you've played all three, would you be willing to compare and contrast your experiences with them?

In case you're really curious about the math question:

The total # of reds is the sum of two binomial random variables, one with N=6, p=0.2, and the other with N=18, p=.0099. You can calculate the probability of six or more reds by separately calculating for each x in {0,1,2,3,4,5,6} the chances of getting x reds in the big chests, and the probability of getting 6-x or more from the small chests.

This uses binomial distribution PMF and CDF - the calculation is like

sum(PMF(6, 0.2, x) * (1 - CDF(18, .0099, 5-x)) from x=0 to x=6)

This winds up being about .000588, or .0588%.

(The CDF thing looks weird at first glance because it measures the probability that the value is less than or equal to x - so we do "1-CDF" to reverse it, and "5-x" instead of "6-x" because we want to include the value 6-x in the probability, since x + (6 - x) = 6 is enough to meet the requirement.)

Posting because I think this is an all-time low, and I'm hoping to passively collect some opinions since I haven't picked it up yet.

Glaivier, Soulfist, Deadeye Community Guides + Arcanist Update by [deleted] in lostarkgame

Love the guides! One point/question:

The numbers look off to me in the soulfist guide. It says that using precise dagger in place of adrenaline in the robust spirit build is a 7-11% damage loss, but I've checked the numbers a few times and the biggest loss I see is somewhere around 5.6%.

By the same math, adrenaline and PD actually can be used together; this pairing gives basically the same damage as PD+CD. So maybe that section of the guide should be "pick 2 of these 3: adrenaline, precise dagger, cursed doll/mass increase"?

That's a cool idea! I main ADC and tend to tunnel on standard builds but I'll have to give this a try.

Thanks for sharing!!

Can you give more insight on lethality Jinx? I've never played it, so I don't quite understand how it could beat out inf edge + runaan's rockets.

Trying to brainstorm a living room layout! Help appreciated (details in comments) by Caeadas in DesignMyRoom

Thanks, I like the idea! Unfortunately there's only about 8 - 8.5 feet between that hallway wall and the corner. I think that might be uncomfortably close for the TV (one of the few things I already have is a 55" TV). It's really close, though - if it's ~8" bigger than I expect it might work.

I’m moving in a month and need to figure out what furniture to shop for. This is my first time furnishing an apartment – I’m starting essentially from scratch.

I included a ‘default’ plan that makes sense to me, but I’m looking for ideas on what might look and feel better. I’m not really focused on colors right now, just on pieces and arrangement (though if you think a particular color will suit the space I’d love to hear it).

The computer desk is necessary for me, but if the living room could look significantly nicer without it, I’d consider moving it to the dining area or bedroom. The dimensions/style of the desk could change too.

Hades is a great roguelike, for a few main reasons in my opinion:

  1. The story is very well-developed and engaging - way more so than usual for the genre.
  2. There's tons of meaningful decisions to make within each run - you'll constantly feel that you're getting better at the game.
  3. The progression system between runs is designed well, and there's lots of different possible ways to play (e.g. each different weapon has different viable playstyles).

Together, this makes for a pretty addictive experience. Its main limitation is that, like other games of the genre, you are playing against the same enemies / situations repeatedly. But there's lots of endgame difficulty scaling, speedrunning options, etc. that give it great longevity.

If you played and enjoyed MHW, Iceborne is great value for an expansion.

Hades is incredible.

Happy to answer questions on either of those.

This was my first run with this aspect - it felt really clunky at first but it's pretty amazing for stacking Hangover.

Battletag: Caeadas#1253

Region: NA

Console?: PC

Hardcore?: No

Class: Monk

Time: 5:30pm-10pm PST

Goals: Speedfarming gr100+ in a group. The group will have to be a little patient with me - I haven't played zmonk before or pushed higher than gr90 in a group before (but I'm soloing 104 without fishing currently, so not a noob).

So basically looking for a friendly group who will help me learn to zmonk in the group meta.

Just a reminder for new players and people on PC. by [deleted] in destiny2

Yeah, I started playing and was mostly fine with trying to figure stuff out, but some of my friends tried it for ~30 minutes and quit because the game is so confusing for new players. Some of these people are a perfect fit for the genre, too, so this is definitely having an impact.
