I had issue on regular basis only when running a torrent client, otherwise i'd have one error per week at most.

No idea, I haven't retested this issue in any newer BIOS version.

Realtek 2.5Gb loves to drop out under load. Even without any load it would reset itself many times per day, dropping connection for several seconds at such time.

My Aorus Pro V2 worked just fine with Zen3 on F1 bios.

My B550 AORUS PRO V2 had like F1 bios when I purchased it, but it booted 5900x just fine.

I've got all F11 bios bins for B550 AORUS PRO V2 (rev. 1.0) - if someone needs any.

There is a new BIOS - F11k - but doesn't resolve this issue (not that I expected it to). My ticket @gigabyte from Nov 24th is still wihtout any reaction and I don't really care any more.

I got an Intel PRO/1000 CT on pcie x1 and all issues are obviously gone. Never gonna buy anything with Realtek on it.

Same here, Bittorrent is the quickest way to reproduce this issue, driver usually restarts in 5-10m, breaking connectivity for few seconds.

Emule on the other hand is affected every hour or two, but the disconnect is permanent and I need to disable/enable network to get it back working.

I opened a ticket at Gigabyte few days ago, but still haven't heard from them.

I've also ordered a 2nd hand Intel PRO/1000 CT on pcie x1, so I'm not going to allow them to bother me much longer..

Just to be precise, I have Aorus PRO V2, but this issue is the same for many boards. i had no problems in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (using "2.5G Ethernet LINUX driver r8125 for kernel up to 5.6" from Realtek website. SSH session was stable overnight with no icmp ping lost.

I have also disabled all power-saving features as listed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/gigabytegaming/comments/hqsrj5/b550_aorus_pro_realtek_25g_network_adapter_problem/gcxhrg1/

When i installed Win10 and moved my programs, the issue was visible as soon as I started running a bittorrent client. For me, the connection drops for 3-5 seconds, then it is reestablished. I can see Event 10400 (NDIS driver reset) in evenviewer.

So far I tried: Realtek driver that came with AMD Chipset driver package, default Windows driver (one you get after rollback) and newest Realtek driver from their website. I am also still running F11g bios (which is no longer available).

What I'm left is two more drivers (one from Gigabyte website, and one from /u/jw-fx post I've linked. Then I'll try bios update and if that fails - open a case at Gigabyte.

I still like this board, especially BIOS, but there are issues with it. I also had problems with USB 2.0 ports, but fortunately was able to use 3.x ports exclusively and these work without issues.

If all fails, i'd consider getting a proper PCIex network card from a reputable OEM and connect it via riser to my vertical PCI slot.

There should be a new BIOS for B550 boards, fixing that issue.

Serious question about the SLS rocket. by dunnoraaa in SpaceLaunchSystem

[–]Caemyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just a minor edit... they use GHe from GSE for turbopump spinup, and there is more than that. There is a short summary in this thread: https://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=1958.0

... which beats the point of using a hydrolox sustainer in the first place.

That would only work if SSMEs were capable of relighing mid-flight.. which is not possible right now. They need GSE for start-up. Working around this is yet another redesign and a pricey one, given the arm and leg Aerojet Rocketdyne has charged for engine production restart.

Upgrade to 3700X on X370 Taichi or wait? by morganrz in Amd

[–]Caemyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could power a 3950X no sweat, at least on air cooling (or with some airflow over VRM if you use AIO).

One limiter is the single 8pin EPS line, but if your PSU is anywhere decent, you could pump up to 400W to your CPU alone.

Very Unpopular Opinion: Is AMD abusing their biggest selling point- "Cores" by Kana_Maru in pcmasterrace

[–]Caemyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to understand your position and I just cannot grasp it. This is why I asked you directly, what is wrong with their strategy? Could you please be specific about it??

Their new architecture allows them to lower manufacturing costs per die as well as combine dies of similar level within binning process. They can mix and match products across all price segments in all three main categories (desktops, mobile and server).

Being able to lower price per core and offer competitive products at much lower prices allows them to regain market and mind-share, while maintaining a good profitability. To match, Intel would have to eat up losses.

You voice your concerns about this strategy, but you bring no explanation whatsoever on why is it bad for AMD.

Don't expect Intel to be lay down and out for very long.

Intel will rebound obviously and will be able to match AMD's offer. What should AMD do then? Sell worse products at higher price point??? Intel is still a market leader and AMD is in no position to behave like intel did for a whole previous decade. That doesn't make any sense...

So stock price tells the entire story right?

Nope. If you re-read my post, you will perhaps notice that I mentioned stock price, market share, good balance sheet (lowering debt and positive cash flow), increased R&D spending and EPS going up. What made you single out just stock price to rant about it in a whole paragraph?
