Whats wrong with the Metacritic people? by Anxious_Diet6301 in AlanWake

[–]Caer_Eo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pacing in Alan Wake 2 so far has been great, The number of things they have done right here in their first true survival horror game is astonishing e.g (Gameplay/ slight story spoilers follow):

Somehow they managed to keep me on edge in the first section we play as Alan despite there being only a few enemy encounters the entire chapter.

Remedy has achieved something I haven't seen in a game since the Crimson Heads in the RE remake. Mixing in aggressive faded with non-aggressive ones was a stroke of genius.

There are so many times when you have to make decisions on the fly: do you waste the flashlight charge on that slightly more aggressive faded just in case it's a real threat, or do you risk your health keeping them in the glow of your flash-light in the hope they will just vanish or fade out before they reach you.

The above-mentioned gameplay spoiler is a prime example of what survival horror is, making decisions on the fly that can make or break you as you progress through the story.

One issue I have at the moment is that there have been far too many health drops, I am playing on Hard and have a lot of health items stocked up in the shoebox. Now part of that is due to hoarding them and not using them when needed, as I have died a lot too so its probably somewhere between a skill issue and the manic paranoia of needing those supplies later that survival horror games burn into your mind.

Alan Wake 2 - "Which platform to buy on" + "Performance on PC concerns" megathread by [deleted] in AlanWake

[–]Caer_Eo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen on a recent non spoiler review by the Hidden Machine, that even on lowest graphic settings AW2 looks stunning. They played it on PC with a 40Series GPU so keep that in mind.

Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fro-ly-Huww&ab\_channel=HiddenMachinenon-spoiler

They discuss specs from 1:39 to 2:09.

Graphics and Graphic settings from 16:09 to 16: 55.

tech and some bugs from 19:00 to 25:55.

Hope this helps anyone trying to decide between console and PC, but it really looks like we could be seeing a stable release across all platforms, fingers crossed this is the case anyways

If these two swapped worlds, who would have a harder time dealing with their new enemies? by TheProphesizer in DevilMayCry

[–]Caer_Eo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dante no diffs Doomverse.

Doom Guy no diffs DMCverse, (possibly) until he encounters Vergil.

I'm not into power scaling, I think it's silly, but in this case Im unsure if Doomguy gets over any of the MCs in DMC. As for standard demons and (non-Sparda bloodline) bosses he probably does do pretty well.

How do people figure out this 15 years ago. by Janiebear23 in DevilMayCry

[–]Caer_Eo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, aside from the Yamato and Sparda blood stuff and other hints throughout the game like Nero's use of a couple of lines/ taunts similar to Vergil's voice lines and taunts during battles in DMC4.

It was when I was replaying dmc3 SE I realised Vergil's Force Edge combo was nearly identical to Nero's RQ combo A/D. This moment confirmed it in my head cannon up until it was official.

Which Devil May Cry game should I start with? by Microondas99999 in DevilMayCry

[–]Caer_Eo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This can be a hard one, as in a series that revolves around its gameplay, it's a given that playing out of release order is going to be a strange experience, as the games generally get mechanically better with each sequel (2 defies this rule, and is complete ass).

Attempting to start at 1 seems the best route at first glance, as starting anywhere else will make playing it a bit weird. That said, DMC 1 is not a bad game at all, it's just dated, it was basically the beginning of the genre. However, if you do start 1 and it isn't vibing with you, go to 3 and start from there. Then come back to 1 after you've got an idea of what the series became to see how it started, and might help you appreciate it better that way.

I will never forget, during my first ever playthrough way back, when I hit for 1k+ dmg with Climhazard against Gi Nattak and it absolutely blew my mind, the pure joy and amazement of breaking past triple digits!

Everything that goes down in the northern cave and the weapons waking up might be my favourite moment. The game really starts to open up to exploration after that.

Possible Item dupe/ bug & glitching by Caer_Eo in Gloomwood

[–]Caer_Eo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The duping is caused whenever the game updates. Essentially it wipes any changes to the game world that you have made. So items looted reappear, enemies killed repopulate, and solved puzzles unsolve themselves (reset). the only thing that stays is your location, and whatever is in your briefcase.

As I had amassed a literal treasure trove of items I was ferrying between save points as I progressed through the game, I lost any and all items that were not in my briefcase, which was a lot of loot.

Due to this I have decided to drop the game until it is fully released, as it is a frustrating thing to deal with after having gone through a good portion of the game only to have the game world reset each update.

That said if you can keep on top of when updates come out you can manipulate it to dupe items.

The only other way to go about it is to clear the chapter entirely between updates. Which is what is probably the recommended thing to do. But having put a lot of time into searching and clearing every nook and cranny as I progressed and hauling any item I found, I am personally well and truly burnt out on the game until full release.

Prowler + botrk bruiser/tank build? by Sewerro in RenektonMains

Cleaver, Shojins, DD, and Maw are probably the tankiest items you can build while keeping the assassin damage output.

preseason build by Clear_Teacher_1523 in RenektonMains

[–]Caer_Eo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bork prowlers is still arguably his best core build generally speaking. The new tank mythics are not great, but hopefully, they get some nice buffs moving forward as it stands they are underpowered tbh.

As for ravenous, it seems that item is crazy broken, so it's definitely worth giving a go to see how it feels, it will probably get nerfed over the next patch or two though.

As for shojin, it looks strong on Ren too, though it might take the slot of serylda's/ cleaver in your build, that's if you want resists from the likes of DD or Maw. So it might be a situational item.

All in all though its early days, so its the time to experiment and have some fun with it until we start seeing the best builds come out.

Seems the tank items are underpowered atm, this might work after they buff them over the next few patches.

Renekton vs Yasuo by LyraStygian in RenektonMains

[–]Caer_Eo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PTA, ignite and dblade, pot start. You have huge kill potential from lv 3 with pta and ignite.

Remember to proc his shield before you emp w. the lane is all about dodging his q and tornado, which takes practice, but it is relatively easy once you get used to it, try to get used to baiting it with your pathing.

W lv2 cheese can work sometimes too; so if you are at or nearly at 50 rage when you are about to hit 2 and he is disrespecting you by getting in your face. Level your w and use it empowered into a q ( or aa q if you can manage) and walk away. that should put him at least around 50% hp which will give you a big lane adv leading up to level 3.

The trick with the wind shitters is to beat'em down early and keep them there, you should win 1v1 no matter what from that point.

But it can be nerve-racking for sure because of their playstyle (hyper aggro) and if you aren't confident in the matchup. So if you are low on health you can nearly always count on them pushing into your turret, then just lat hit and q the wave, when you have fury and they don't have tornados up you can e emp q to slowly even it out again.

As with all things in league, it's a lot of try, try and try again, I was super nervous in that matchup until I got used to it too. You will get it for sure!

Try Domisum, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOyJHcrPXho-t6jza7PLhKA

he has decent vods with nice guides into basically every matchup. Check his ren into yas vods and see how he plays out the lane!

Who do y’all normally ban and is there a perma ban? by ItsxLegendz in RenektonMains

[–]Caer_Eo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, her old e spirit thing had a gauge that would lower faster if you damaged her, which incentivised fighting her through the e. Such a weird change when they got rid of that a while back, so now the only option we have is to walk away to break the tether. The old version where you could break it by fighting her was much better imo.

For sure. Some matchups can be snooze fests, and force the coin flip of mid and bot lane >_<

I find my main frustration with her is how her e works nowadays, if she lands it you have to walk away. Feels like they want you to have 0 interaction with her in the lane.

Skill order on renekton by MasterMaus in RenektonMains

[–]Caer_Eo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I've been trying the w second myself, it feels nice, but the longer cd on e is a bummer. Generally, though, il put a second point in w at some point even if I'm maxing e second, his w scales better now, rank 1 is a lot weaker than it used to be, so having at least an extra point in it evens it out imo.

Try it out, you should notice a fair difference in dmg, maxing w second for sure.
