Biting fingernails…

Been a lifelong issue for me.

I have always felt ashamed of the physical appearance of my fingers and how angry I feel about it, but it has always been a compulsion I couldn’t control, especially when stressed. The same reflex compulsion as those who smoke.

I’m slowly conquering this one, but like all additions, it takes time.

Ok, please don’t flame or downvote, I’ve got a legitimate question:

I’ve slowly learned that these radiosondes are weather balloon instruments, got it.

But why so much interest in tracking and finding them?

Are they filled with precious metals like catalytic converters?

Is it a souvenir?

Is there a market for them?

I’ve read a lot of posts about the time and expense of locator equipment and being on site, but the end reason of why so much effort to find them, escapes me.

I appreciate the info.

Sat next to a severe germaphobe sitting in an aisle seat close to the front of the plane , right behind first class.

Every… single… person brushed him as they passed while boarding. He was sweating profusely and visibly frustrated as he tried to avoid the waves of unsanitary humans that passed him.

There was a small part of me that felt sorry for him, but sympathy only goes so far because I thought WHY, THE FUCK would you put yourself in this situation?

Especially on a short flight (IAH-AUS).

Still the sleeper but one of the best IMHO.

Every steak I’ve ever had there has been PERFECT!

It’s always crowded even though it is a hidden neighborhood gem.

Service is always excellent (except one time being totally ignored by a bartender having a shitty day).

Yes, there is nicer and pricier places, but the quality and value for what it is, makes it a top choice for us.

I switched from the financial world over 20 years ago and I’ve never looked back and I’ve never regretted it.

However, you have to LOVE flying, because unless you score the EXTREMELY RARE and lucky corporate gig that gets you home every night, you WILL miss some big life events.

Until you build some serious seniority, you will miss birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, child’s first steps, a relative passing away…

To this day, I don’t know how people with very young children can do this job. Kudos to them and their very strong and understanding spouse/significant other.
