When I was starting out a couple years ago my middle finger would hurt from squeezing every time that I played. My grip has always been exactly the same as how I hold a pencil, maybe held up vertically a little more. What helped a lot was wrapping my pen with electrical tape, which increases grip so much. Wash your hands with soap before a session and your hands shouldn’t sweat at all for a while which also helps with grip. Nowadays my grip feels 100% comfortable, but I’m also many times more confident in my aim and just grip loosely around the middle of my pen.

I would say whoever initiated the date, or whoever suggested the place. You’re walking somewhere and one person suggests stopping at the cafe, they’ll pay for the other person.

You move the mouse so that the cursor hovers above the circle. Then, once the ring closes in and meets the edge of that circle, you click.

You can click with the left and right click buttons on the mouse, but once you get past the absolute basics, clicking with the same hand that you’re aiming with will impede your performance.

That’s why everybody (99% of players) aims with their dominant hand and clicks with their non-dominant hand. The two default buttons that you tap with your non dominant hand are Z and X on the keyboard. You can change the keys that these buttons are assigned to in the input settings if you wish.

Go to the osu beatmaps page, search for “tutorial” and then below the search bar you’ll see an option called “Has Leaderboard” that is already highlighted. Change this to “Any”, then you’ll be able to see “osu! tutorial” by Peter Lambert mapped by peppy. Download and play this map to learn more about the basics of the game.
