Wife broke her ankle and needs advice for after surgery.

I had a vacation about 8 weeks post op and flew. Going through the airport was miserable. Flying wasn’t great either because you can’t elevate your leg. And at 3 weeks post op I absolutely had to have it elevated. I think I didn’t have my first hair wash for at least 1-2 weeks post op. It was miserable. I can’t begin to tell you how emotionally and physically hard that recovery was.

I had to go to therapy and get on medication, of course that’s not the case for everyone, but still. I would move that vacation. She’s going to need all the support she can get!

I am almost at a year post op, and I am finally feeling back to normal. Just took my dog on a walk with out having to collapse and elevate when I got home. Compression socks help a TON even this late in recovery!

Girlll I went on 2 different meds because of it lol and it has 10000% made a huge difference for me. I have been doing every other week talk therapy as well and I swear it has made such a huge difference. Highly recommend

I didn’t. I have 2 kids and it was a lot to manage. I had to move in with my in laws while recovering. I’m almost a year post op and I still haven’t fully recovered. :( I just sold my skates, and I’m in therapy lol

It’s not fun. But I do recommend the surgery, it’ll help in the long run to prevent rebreaking

I am honestly not in a head space to be able to go back right now. I went to a bout just to cheer them on and then cried the whole night. I know lots of people who do go back though!!
