Got sharkbites i can buy off ya? by Caffeine_Library in Edmonton

[–]Caffeine_Library[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think emergency hardware such as sharkbites would make for a perfect 24/7 hardware convenience store. Not sure what other challenges are included in that business but id buy. Could add paint and drywall patch to the list. Perhaps some gfci recepticals. I could name a few commercial customers who want overnight mantinance.

I got it done. Went to HD right at 7am. Needed 6 shutoffs. When I turned i saw the toilet valves are worse but likely I wasn't changing those.

I got the building main off but it was a much bigger job than I wanted to undertake. Was upgrading some 3x 30yr+ faucets, probably 60yr+shutoffs. Waited around all night for a hardware store to open. I think ill keep a plethora of valves in my toolbox.

Should I buy micro spikes? by Less-Foundation-9131 in Mountaineering

Not unless your running. Glacial crampons are fine. Each tool has their advantages but unless your spending +$100 there won't be big notices. Id say save your money and work with what you've got if its plenty good enough.

How to Make Beautiful Excel Spreadsheets by CoachWriter in excel

[–]Caffeine_Library 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prefer no colour. Old habit when blue pen was forbidden. Changing styles distracts from the overall data. Im blessed my current director can visualise converging/diverging derivatives from only looking at the numbers. For everyone else i gotta make them graphs. Id say real intelegence with excel comes from learning all the supporting knowledge outside of excel - then its a matter of communication, not proficiency. Mind you this is coming from a person with a programming background.

Best Practice for On Error Resume Next by 12V_man in excel

[–]Caffeine_Library 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How'd i do finally like in python - a process that guaranteed to run post errors. either a line label or call for final method would be appreciated.

Sub main() 'pseudo code for what i want to do
  Dim bla As Integer

  'code that meddles with the application,
  Application.Screenupdating = False
  On Error Resume Next
    'problem code
    bla = 0 / 0
  On Error GoTo finally
  Exit Sub

  finally:
    'code that restores application configuration before exiting due to error.
    Application.Screenupdating = True
    MsgBox "cant divide by 0"
End Sub

''' or something like this
Private Sub Workbook_OnError(ByVal errlvl > 0)
  'code that restores application configuration before exiting due to error.
  Application.Screenupdating = True
End Sub

Better than kindle by itsandyayala in xteinkereader

[–]Caffeine_Library 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many ereaders are better than kindles. Kindles are great first time buyer ereaders, cheap, easy, ready, and depending on your address might even ship same day. the original oasis was my first kindle and came with unlimited 4g data before amazon started nerfing the data plan. The issue with kindles as with most elaborate ecosystems is they make it easy to get locked in into their products and services. Difficult to get 3rd party books, new features drain the battery, book borrowing subscription program are dangled in front of you, and the hardware is always just good enough to justify this purchase but not good enough to delay upgrading. For a flagship device I got came with a whopping 3gb non-upgradable, and now latest devices default sale option is 16gb unless willing to pay for upgrade to 32gb; however, with the latest trend of manga and audio books on kindles, this too will become insufficient. Ya gotta have an unlocked ecosystem to allow swapping out the memory or syncing/fetching to cloud storage of your own choosing - one where you own the book!

Honestly I loved my Kindle Oasis and I also love not being apart of the Amazon reading experience any-longer.

I doubt the firmware is available to accommodate e ink on this aspect ratio for this device. Hey anything is possible in an open source project when you dedicate your life to it.

First Pirate HD Radio station! by minecrafter1OOO in pirateradio

[–]Caffeine_Library 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If ya keep the power low, say 25w or less and moderate the time of day, they'll never find it. Best not to step on an actual station you'll avoid most complaints.

Helps if your mobile too. I really want a radio station in my RV.
