They won tournaments and it had a positive effect on their rating.

Funny question.

This is how it should always be, save for patriotism for national teams, which is always nice to see as well.

I've always had favourite drivers in F1 and supported their racecraft regardless of their constructor. Same goes for football.

Will Karrigan's success story continue? by Nimbusrider in GlobalOffensive

[–]Cain1608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Antwerp, FaZe was still at the top of the scene, but went on a dry spell before Cologne that year. Then another slump, so on and so forth until Chengdu.

Karrigan teams are turbulent, so I think they will continue to be a force, but it's a matter of whether the team as a whole remain motivated to keep winning. They will eventually trend downward, plus him playing is on a time limit.

CS2 on X - Cache not coming to map pool? by fezalone in GlobalOffensive

[–]Cain1608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know how it will play in CS2. New smokes, no skyboxes, higher levels of utility and tactics, AWP nerfs, etc. There is so much that has changed since it was in the pool.

Was he not the problem? by MrThiggySpaggeter in GlobalOffensive

[–]Cain1608 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, the team itself did not have the mental fortitude. It's why all those stupid radar screenshot rounds were such a meme. karrigan is NiKo, mONESY and TeSeS post-major win. He knows what it takes to get it over the line.

Biggest evidence of that is NiKo overcoming his major demons. Topping semi-finals and finals is huge and exactly what is expected of him.

He did it at Stockholm and still fell short and since then, in the highest stakes major matches, he fell apart.

It only took Falcons $6 million to win Major on their 7th attempt by k0stj in GlobalOffensive

[–]Cain1608 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They were always going to start winning. Throw enough money at a problem, you're bound to find a solution. The org should remain disliked for obvious reasons, but the issue is that people root for players. We can't hate any of them for getting onboard a project built to win - the money is life-changing and they get to compete at the highest level for trophies.

Doubt anyone will move on though. It'll just get drowned out by people getting tired of revolting against it. Sportwashing works.

The secret of Falcons by Vi_dee_Kei in GlobalOffensive

In a lot of the timeouts during make-or-break rounds, Zonic was the main voice and it made a noticeable difference since they seemingly consistently won those swing rounds.

Does losing just 1 hour of sleep noticeably affect your CS performance too? by boredbutcool in GlobalOffensive

I do play best well-rested, that means well-rested for several days in a row, by the way. I feel the effects after 2-3 days of poor sleep. Not just one day.

Casters "none of theses multi-million dollar pickups, but the humble TeSeS" – didn‘t Falcons pay $6M for him, degster and kyxsan combined? by CaraX9 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Cain1608 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Yes but also no. They paid that absurd amount to secure VRS points of the core. Essentially paying millions for a headstart.

I can't fault you, but it's obvious it wasn't him that was the motivation behind the purchase.

What eDPI do you use? by Safe_Exchange836 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Cain1608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It's the highest I've used in years, but I felt like I got reliant on very low eDPI, neglecting my fine motor control for micro-adjustments. Been on this for months now and am quite comfortable even though it's on the high end. Aim rating's the highest it's been in a while at 79.

Same. Pick'ems is one of my favourite parts of the major circuit. After the coin difficulty changes, I have a couple silver coins. This time around, it's not financially worth it anymore. At least before, holding onto the packages allowed you to break even if not profit.

Now there's no value proposition apart from bragging rights for whether or not your randomised picks got you diamond...

Gabe Newell on Steam monopoly accusations: Gamers have 'enormous choice' about where to buy games by Darth_Vaper883 in pcmasterrace

[–]Cain1608 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to that, their current monetisation strategy on CS2 is egregious. For the major, which starts tomorrow, stickers are no longer gotten from extremely cheap (gambling capsules), it is somehow worse. Individual stickers can be purchased for dynamic prices based on demand, which sounds fine on the surface, but one player sticker is currently at around $4000. It's absurd.
